Yeah the shorts thing is funny.. I was thinking, you only need two pairs, but I don't care, he can bring 20 pairs if it makes him feel comfortable :D Summer in Victoria is never extremely hot. There's always a strong breeze off the water. We might get one week of 'air con' weather.

Yeah, they don't like Canadian as much. Though that seems to be changing.

I found a sample list format that I dumped in a spreadsheet. Two sheets, one titled "Goods in Possession" and the second "Goods to Follow".

Then columns for:

Category - type of item (clothes, shoes, etc)
Item - what is it (jeans, shirts, t-shirts, etc)
Description - description of item (eg. various styles and colors of men's jeans)
Number of Items - number of items in this category
Approximate Value - value of this category

So

CLOTHES JEANS ASSORTED MENS JEANS 5 $100
etc.

As long as you can provide that they will fill in the B4/B4a forms for you.

Yeah, you're right.. I was saying maybe he could get USD because they will take it in the airport.
I remember being stuck once, I think it was in Terminal 1's holding pen for 5 hours, starving only Canadian money, and no food place will take Visa card and they were all these little hot dog stands or crappy buns. Good thing I carry water purifying tablets to sanitize tap water :-X what an airport.
On the other hand, the Cebu Pacific terminal.. wow.. french deli, cappuccinos, you name it.

My brother's wife went on a shopping spree and brought a lot of stuff (she's from Peru). My wife wanted to leave most of her stuff. I told her to bring what she still uses/wears since it will cost her more here.

Haven't been to the Cebu one in a while. Not since 2000.

Yeah, especially jeans are way more pricey here - plus the jeans here are super long and people my height have to get them hemmed, I'm considered tall in the Philippines but average here. In the Philippines I can get jeans for $12 that look good and don't need hemming. Here.. it's $100+
Other things like undergarments, shirts, can run about the same, espcially in a Target or Walmart.
Shoes are a savings there, if you find a $20 pair, but here you can find $30 pairs also in a Target or Walmart.. Forever 21 and stores like that you can get $12 dollar shirts, not to far off prices of the Surplus Shop.

Oh and purses - cheaper there.

That reminds me, I have to remind my wife to get me more card holders. They are small metal card holders that look kind of like a Samsonite briefcase (metal shell, comes in silver and many colors), but pocket sized to hold credit cards. So cool and really cheap there.

Oh and don't forget the deals to be had in outlet malls in the States.. I think it's cheaper then the Philippines. You never get deals there. Raise your hand if you think your lady would like a shopping trip to the USA once she has her PR card :D :D :D :D
