Had a nice chat with an opposition MP. The bad news is since I am not a constituent they can't really handle my case. But they did listen to my story and give some advice. First bit of news was that my MP wasn't servicing me well (ah ha!). Apparently an inquiry takes no more than 5 minutes (it is simply an email) so there is no reason they can't issue one earlier than end of June (especially since my file will be complete long before then). They also told me the bulk of their constituent issues these days are immigration-related (Go Kenney Go!). Oh, and apparently the GCMS rollout is not going as well as they let on (gee, what a surprise...).
Soooo, the advice she gave was to email CEM requesting a status update myself (and hopefully this will require someone to look at my file and see it is complete). The address she said to use is the
manil.immigration @ international.gc.ca and she said to include at the beginning of the email the following info:
Applicant Name:
Applicant Date of Birth:
File Number:
Sponsor Name:
Sponsor Date of Birth:
UCI Number:
That way they have all the information required to look up your file. She also said they may not respond but it is worth a try.
You mean... they ignore email???!!!
Oh, and one last bit of advice she gave for anyone still working on their app. Less is better. If CIC does not specifically ask for something, don't give it to them. If they didn't ask for it and it isn't there then there is no problem. But if you include extras, they HAVE to look at it and use it in their determination.
And my GCMS request is still in stealth mode. It's only got a couple of days of freshness left.
