So in their news releases when they talk about discussing these issues with "stakeholders" who do they mean?.. as in

What you can do is go to travel agent pay for the fare in your wife's name and get them to email you the ticket/confirmation and then forward the email to your wife to print out.
This was going to be my first choice of options, maybe still the easiest for paranoid me :) Thanks!

I would go with a scan of your passport insted of drivers license. I doubt anyone at the Manila flight check-in desk knows what a BC drivers license is supposed to look like, but they have all seen Canadian passports. And from what I have read they WILL ask for the CC if the ticket was purchased with one. I think it was PAL I was looking at that said a photocopy of the front of the CC was acceptable. So take pics of CC front and ID page of your PP and email them to her to print and you should be good to go.

Make sure if she is using an internet cafe to delete the files when done, clear all the caches, recycle bin etc. You don't want those hanging around for the next user.

Well PP won't work, I don't own one of those, I think I will just go with a travel agent, when the time finally gets here, and let them figure it out. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be :) Thanks!

Well Duh!

I got a message from the MP office to call them yesterday. Called today whereupon they informed me that I received an email for PPR and re-medical around May 2nd. Ooooo, thanks for telling me! So I told them that yes, I received it, and yes, we already sent the medical and the PP within a few days of receiving it. Is there anything new? Nope...

So she tells me that medicals can take up to 2 months so she will check again at the beginning of July! I said wait, my wife went to an e-medical certified practitioner and they were supposed to be faster. And it has been almost 2 weeks so far. Answer: Well, not really because there is a (wait for it)... backlog.

So I told her that her inquiry will be pretty useless since the bring forward date will occur long before her inquiry. So she goes "tell you what, I'll check mid June just ahead of it". Wow, so even though EVERYTHING my app needs is now there, her favor to me is to let it sit another month! Gee thanks Mr PC MP's office.

I think it is time to try the opposition...

Had a nice chat with an opposition MP. The bad news is since I am not a constituent they can't really handle my case. But they did listen to my story and give some advice. First bit of news was that my MP wasn't servicing me well (ah ha!). Apparently an inquiry takes no more than 5 minutes (it is simply an email) so there is no reason they can't issue one earlier than end of June (especially since my file will be complete long before then). They also told me the bulk of their constituent issues these days are immigration-related (Go Kenney Go!). Oh, and apparently the GCMS rollout is not going as well as they let on (gee, what a surprise...).

Soooo, the advice she gave was to email CEM requesting a status update myself (and hopefully this will require someone to look at my file and see it is complete). The address she said to use is the manil.immigration @ international.gc.ca and she said to include at the beginning of the email the following info:

Applicant Name:
Applicant Date of Birth:
File Number:
Sponsor Name:
Sponsor Date of Birth:
UCI Number:

That way they have all the information required to look up your file. She also said they may not respond but it is worth a try. You mean... they ignore email???!!! :p

Oh, and one last bit of advice she gave for anyone still working on their app. Less is better. If CIC does not specifically ask for something, don't give it to them. If they didn't ask for it and it isn't there then there is no problem. But if you include extras, they HAVE to look at it and use it in their determination.

And my GCMS request is still in stealth mode. It's only got a couple of days of freshness left.

Good info. The "less is better" is the approach I used in our application. Simple and concise and gave supporting documentation for only the things they asked for but let them know I have more if they require it. Though that doesn't keep them from losing it.

You need never tell any MP that you are not their constituent. Let them believe you are. Kevin Lamoureaux is not my MP but he is far more proactive making inquiries than my MP's office is. Best to constantly remind them who works for who.

My MP made me sign a release of information form that included my address... so there goes pretending you're from another riding, and in contrast to Scos saying it's just a quick email, my MP's assistant actually phoned them directly. My ridings is one of the larger ones, I never got to speak with my MP personally.
