It still just makes me sick that people can bring in their Grandparents and not a child over the age of 18! What is wrong with people :-X I was reading the rationale behind the new age limit, and they were talking about how older children have a harder time integrating and end up making less money. And of course the prevalence of fraud from the people trying to prove that their children over the age of 22 were attending school. It's totally mind blowing that the Government can think a person 19 or over is too old to integrate into Canadian society.. let alone write it in a document, yet at the same time re opening sponsorship of Grandparents. I mean, really.. who imports their Grandparents? How rich would you have to be to pull that off? Grrrrrr... somebody give me a visa quickly before I totally go postal :-X

So in their news releases when they talk about discussing these issues with "stakeholders" who do they mean?.. as in
"In spring 2012, as part of Canada's Action Plan for Faster Family Reunification, the Minister of CIC hosted a series of multi-city in-person meetings with stakeholders".

Read this on another news release...

On February 17, 2011, CIC launched an online consultation with stakeholders and the general public to seek views on the proposed changes to the FSW program. The consultation was open from February 17 to March 25.

An e-mail was sent to approximately 290 stakeholders inviting them to participate in the consultation and share the invitation with their networks. Stakeholders invited included representatives of national and local organizations such as industry and professional associations, private sector employers, chambers of commerce, immigration lawyers and consultants, and immigrant-serving, civil rights, ethnocultural and other non-governmental organizations. The general public was informed of the consultation through a prominently placed link on the CIC website, promoted in a news release and posted on the Consulting with Canadians website.

It doesn't seem very balanced that the stakeholders should determine what happens to all of us. It sounds like what a corporation would do, not a government.

In other words they asked the "general public" (polling, which can be tailored any way you want), and they also asked "stakeholders" (ie. those who make money off of us and the whole immigration system), and didn't bother asking "us" (people who have, are currently, or are planning to go through the immigration system).

Way to go Kenney! Woowoo!

I'm sure Mrs. Kenney would thank you for that.

I've spoken personally with Kevin Lamoureaux a few times. Nice guy and his heart is in the right place but he lacks the drive of a fighter. It was through his office that I learned my wife's application ahs sat in Manila for 6 months unopened. That was the catalyst for my email campaign.

At the risk of going on a rant the Conservatives are far from the PC's we used to know. Their vision is becoming increasingly more clear with every omnibus bill they table. Their move to increase economic immigration at the cost of family reunification, all out assault on organized labour to negotiate their own collective agreements and drive down those wages so Canada can compete with the labour force of Bangladesh. This government continually removes access to government services with no rational explanation.

3 more days until I've exceeded the 30 day mark for GCMS notes. Have they increased the processing time to 14 months for those as well?

Sorry, still learning the abbreviations...what does GCMS stand for?

Also, how long do they usually hold onto to your passport for after they request it?

Thanks

GCMS = Global Case Management System

It depends... if the medical is done and not needed to be redone it looks like usually up to a month. (But tagnum looks like it is almost a year). Some VOs request the passport at the beginning, so they hold onto it longer.

If you look at the spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCLbbZupkY_dHJRT2R1alhXS2xaUzFTcHZsTUhVbHc#gid=0) you can see the date of the PPR request and the date when the VISA/COPR was received.
