ok, I really tried to catch up on this thread, got to page 17....and realize how blessed my husband and I are.
I am a naturalized US citizen. He is the Canadian. We "met" on a Christian message forum not looking for love, just good conversation. At first he thought (because of my member name and avatar) that I was a man, and I thought he was a woman! Then as we got to know each other better, we wanted to continue getting to know each other better. We met quite a while (years) ago, but talked a LOT before actually meeting each other IRL. We both have different/compatible sense of humours...by "different" I mean unusual, we make each other laugh. We also share that our immigrant families come from the same country, and we share common theological ideologies. Less arguments that way, and when we do have an argument we both quickly see our own obtuseness before it gets out of hand. He doesn't like staying angry long, and I just can't stay angry with him, and he makes getting over the occasional difficulties, easy. I just don't know how I could be so lucky....but lucky is the wrong word, I'm blessed, and I would be an utter fool to mess that up! It's too bad that there are "utter fools" out there that have required this process to have become so difficult.
For being such a casual thread, it's a really informative one. It is helping me to better understand the reason the CIC wants to prove those wanting to move to Canada under family class for having a genuine relationship. I thought these loser types scamming their way through life might occasionally come up in this process. I didn't know this was such an issue.
