It's looking like we are one of the couples that have the earliest dates. We defenately are when looking at the LA spreadsheet. Not sure whats going on but its getting so depressing. Don't get me wrong, Im so happy, and quite a bit envious, for all of you that have been moving along fairly quickly but wondering when its our turn. ya know?!
We sent for our notes on September 1st and got back such minimal info and now we sent for an updated version last week and we got back an email saying they sent us our notes on Sept 1st. Not sure why they wont send an updated version but it looks like we're out of luck.

*Sigh* WE JUST WANT THIS TO BE OVER! :'(

I know how you feel. We have been waiting since January 4. Our MP looked into it and we were told that all of our requirements were met and that we should hear something from LA in a few weeks. It has now been 5 weeks and we've heard nothing. They said they were going to request that my medical be extended, so maybe that's the hold up. Anyway, it's especially frustrating because it appears that our application was finished being reviewed before Buffalo closed, and just sat in a box until our MP called. I just want it to be over too!!!

Below is my timeline. This past weekend was 1 full year since my application was received by CIC. It's ridiculous. Thank you for the LA Spreadsheet. So far my e-cas only says

We received your application for permanent residence on October 27, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

Time line of Events for Application Dates
Appication Received 10/27/2011
Medical Completed 10/24/2011
Approved Part 1 1/13/2012
Requested additional information 2/17/2012
Back UP information sent 2/23/2012
Fingerprint check requested thru RCMP 3/12/2012
Fingerprint check Mailed to RCMP 4/4/2012
Results sent by RCMP to Canadian Consulate for finger prints 5/11/2012
Notification via email that case was transferred to Ottawa 6/22/2012
Ottawa help desk email states file was transffered and is working thru a large number of files at same time 9/17/2012
Ottawa help desk sends email stating that I should hear from an agent within 2 months 10/17/2012

I just replied in the March thread about this, but thought those who are between Ottawa and LA would find it useful. I emailed this morning to get an update on the processing of my file since I got PPR on the 19th of October. They emailed back within the hour and said:

"Thank you for your email, we are processing applications toward finalization on a daily basis, however, as we have a large volumes it could take another two to four weeks."

So, it looks like the processing time between PPR might be a bit longer, but they're taking PPRs faster. I also asked if my filed would be sent to LA for final processing or if it would all be done in Ottawa. I'll post the response when/if they email back.

Edit - Also, my e-cas had an addition to it this morning under the "in process" tab. It simply added "Medical Results Received". When I got the email this morning I was pretty excited for it say "Decision Made", but no such luck!

Edit #2 - They must like me because they just got back to me again. Everything will be finalized in Ottawa. So for those between Ottawa and LA, I imagine the same goes for you. Get ready for that slow, slow Canada Post.

Hi,
Just wanted to share my story as well so here it is ..
Application filed : 9th April, 2012
Passport request : 5th October, 2012
Passport received by L.A Office : 9th October, 2012

It has been more than 3 weeks now, since I have sent my passport and everyday I check my tracking # on USPS site but nothing there yet.
As I am an IT professional and need to travel a lot, so I did fill out their web based form to request them to send my passport ASAP as I would need it to travel for my job.

Do you guys know any better way to approach them and make a request or there is nothing other than wait ?
Would appreciate your reply. Thanks. I Wish everybody luck !

When I sent my passport, I included a copy of my upcoming itinerary (about 3 weeks later) and requested return prior to that date. They did honour my request, because I got it back two weeks after I sent it to them.

If you have upcoming travel, you can send a case specific inquiry and attach a copy of the itinerary (as a PDF). That might convince them to expedite it.

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it.
So do you mean should I send them an email (to L.A office) or the mail itself.

At this point send them an e-mail or use the case-specific enquiry form on the CIC website. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/los-angeles.asp

Thanks Computergeek ! for your advise, will send them an email.

Also, my passport is expiring in September 2013 (next yr), do you think, if that can be an issue for them to stamp my passport for the PR Visa or is there any passport validity criteria you are aware of (although I already have visitor visa stamped until sep 2013).

Thanks for your help and guidance :)

It won't be an issue. The PR stamp will show up in your current passport and the COPR will be stapled into it, so when you have your new passport, you'll want to carry either your old passport or your PR card to prove you are a permanent resident of Canada.

If you travel back and forth between the US and Canada regularly, I'd suggest getting a Nexus card. If you have a Nexus card, your information (including US passport number and PR card number) will be on file so CBSA won't have any problems matching you up, even if you don't have your PR paperwork with you while crossing the border.

Good luck!

Hi everyone :) well I am still waiting on my passport to come back from LA. I didnt have any travel plans so I couldnt include anything asking them to speed up the process plus I didnt want to annoy them by asking for no cause. I am (im)patiently :) waiting for it to come back. My ECAS did get updated this week that my medicals have been received. I want to apply for jobs already!!!

Anyone else get their passport back with their CORP?

I hope everyone gets some good news soon!
