Hi Everyone, I am in the same boat except I have not even had an interview or anything. I just ordered CAIPS notes for my file but it's going to be a full year on 10/27/2012. Based on the application timeline, does anyone have any idea when the case might be transferred to LA or be approved ? I know it would only be a guess but I'm frustrated like everyone else and getting very impatient as I thought CIC was better than USCIS but it seems like they are worse.

When I log into ecas all it says is

We received your application for permanent residence on October 27, 2011.

Hi computergeek, I have a question did you have to send 2 photos along with your passport? I got an email today from CIC-LA and they're requesting my passport. But I'm not sure if I still have to send 2 photos since I sent a couple of those when I filed my app. Thanks in advance.

Well, it does tell me that they did send a COPR at least - a relief since I haven't seen the actual passport and paperwork yet. Not that I'm obsessing about this or anything, but as of 8:50 am (PT) it was "on vehicle for delivery". When I asked the person in the US office what was included besides the passport she said "well, it looks like they sent back everything you sent them." Naturally that had me wondering if I'd forgotten to do something correctly on that final paperwork ("sorry, because you did not initial here in this space on page 238 we are returning your application to you. Better luck next time.") Just like when the USPS tracking information lost track of the paperwork in LA I found myself looking through manuals trying to figure out what they do if the COPR and passport are lost in transit.

I love FedEx. They said "guarantee delivery by 5 pm". And their website updates status in real-time... so I knew as soon as it had cleared customs.

This morning my spouse asked me "so, if it doesn't show up until 5 pm, are you still going to the border?" Of course I said "damn right I am."

I'm not obsessive about this or anything. Three years, three months and 17 days...

So, it's now officially complete. My COPR showed up at 1:30 pm (yeah FedEx Saturday delivery) and I officially landed at Douglas (Peace Arch) at 5:17 pm. My spouse picked me up after work and we headed down. On the US side I had to get my passport stamped, which meant going into the US facility and standing in line for 15 minutes - the actual stamping took 2 minutes, mostly because the officer had to enter the information into the computer. The "Return to Canada" ramp was closed, so we had to loop around through Blaine, WA and back towards the Canadian border. Two minutes wait in the Nexus lane, 45 seconds discussion with the officer and off we go to the Canadian offices. Three minute wait in line, hand the CBSA officer both copies of the COPR and my passport - he seemed surprised that both copies had my picture on them. He then said he'd call me when he was done. I had just enough time to check in on Facebook and post status and then he called my name - perhaps 3 minutes. He went over the COPR, asked me for the address to mail the PR card, confirmed that I hadn't been convicted of any crimes anywhere and that I didn't have any dependents that weren't declared on the application. I signed it, he took one copy (I had to get him to take the right copy, he almost gave me the CIC copy and kept mine), stamped my passport, wrote the document number in my passport, stapled it and folded it up.

We walked away from the counter at 5:17 pm.

Three years, three months, 17 days (and 77 minutes - just for you parker24!) from the time I applied for PR to the time I successfully landed.

Best wishes for everyone - may your own immigration story come to a close.

Congratulations, computergeek. Hopefully you are out celebrating with your spouse right now :)

This moment has been a long time in the making. You now have the right to enter Canada. Pretty cool, eh?
