and FSWP2013 applicant are promised that they will be processed in a year.

FYI
They had made the same promise to MI3 applicants (i.e. July 2011 - June 2012) - to be processed within 6-12 months. And still a lot of us are waiting worldwide (not only LVO, but also Singapore, and many others).

Thank you and I still believe that this will be the case for this years applicants I see no reason as to why they would say it one year and do it differently the next.

The only way is to contact the person in carve and ask them to clarify that they will follow the ministers statement and process documents within months and not.

Fingers crossed but i really really doubt they will with our pressure.

CPPO, Paris VO, bucharest and a few more have issued visa already, had you seen this thing in MI3?

Hi there, please show proof to that effect. It's always good to back up any claims with evidence. Although I know a friend who applied in 2011 and got his visa within 6 months from LVO.

Yes that would be good if you had written documentation where they promised this back in 2011.

Thank You

Well, that is the problem nowadays - everything has been updated to the recent program, but the info regarding this is virtually identical. Every update to the MI is to respond to Canada's current needs. Therefore the potential immigrants need to be in Canada asap. Should I find this, I will update this.

However, I predict the processing times to decrease, as the VOs all over the world have been working on reducing the backlog, so I doubt that you guys will have to wait for 2+ years.

Apparently, the 6-12 months timeframe has been promised by the Minister/CIC since implementing MIs in 2010:

CIC issued MI in November 2008, which allowed CIC to limit the number of FSW applications to be processed based on eligibility criteria that correspond to Canada’s labour market needs. As a result, CIC has reduced the FSW backlog by more than 40% and reduced processing times to 6-12 months.

This might even have been true, had there not been a huge backlog. And in recent years, VO closures (such as Dhaka and Belgrade) and/or reorganization (such as the transfer of all economic applications from Islamabad to LVO) lead to additional buildup of files in certain VOs.

Here it is (as early as June 2009):

The Action Plan for Faster Immigration of November 28, 2008 includes Ministerial Instructions (MI) outlining a set of eligibility criteria applying to all new FSW applications received on or after February 27, 2008. The MI enables CIC to keep the federal skilled worker backlog from growing, to reduce wait times and to assess new applications according to Canada’s labour market needs.

CIC has committed to processing eligible applications on a priority basis, with a processing time objective of 6 to 12 months.

I have noticed this. You might ask the poor folks in the earlier CPP-O thread (who have been waiting for 2+ years), what they think about this. Bucharest seems to have tackled the whole backlog (even MI3 applicants were processed within a year, or so - at least from what had been posted in the MI3 thread). Paris seems to have not much of a backlog, either - otherwise they would not have transferred several files from LVO to Paris (as posted on one of the earlier LVO threads).

At some VOs, you had the impression, that files were "hand picked", although no system was apparent. E.g. in the LVO 2011 thread you have the impression, that British citizens are processed faster then other nationalities (this might be due to a more lengthy background check done abroad), but it is certainly not always the case.

So the way the global CIC system works, remains a huge mystery.

Fantastic thank you +1,

Unfortunately, this just confirms my concerns for the time for visa processing.

I really really hope I'm wrong but I suspect that yet again they have issued the same press releases and like every year I think its going to take considerably longer than we expect and that emailing the minister is the only way to help improve our chances.

Thank you for all the information you have provided.

FSW 2013 will be a lot faster in my opinion. Note that in previous years, all documents are not sent at the same time. An applicant makes an application, then after sometime, the VO requests for IELTS, then again after a while, they request for Documentsloke educational credentials, then Police Reports and so on. With 2013, we have included all these in our applications so I believe the only waiting time we have will be for background and security checks. Waiting time also may depend on backlogs which we can't do anything about.

+1 very reasonable

Hi Guys,

We have also applied and have got the file number. And now its in LVO !
I am just hoping it does not take 25 months for the process.

Ok, if you have applied and got the short straw ands know your application is at eh London Visa Office. You should email the minister (details on the first page if this thread). If he gets enough emails he will then contact the LVO and resolve our possible situation.

If you know anyone who has applied through the LVO please get them to email it's our only chance o speeding up this years process
