guys, here is my status update:

Applied for LMO: (~)05 Feb 2012
WP expired: (~)15 Mar 2012
Positive ;D LMO issued: 29 May 2012 (about 4 months later)

Good luck for everyone!

PS NOC is 9990.6, Toronto

Sorry but did you actually stopped working after your WP got expired?

So many people here saying their WP had expired before positive LMO was issued.
Makes me wondering if anyone actually stopped working, lost their job and had to leave Canada?

I guess this is the worst case of scenario I can see happening for me.

Can you please let me know if you were working after your WP was expired? I can see a gap of nearly 3 months in WP expiration and LMO approval?

Please respond.

Hi everyone!
I've been quietly looking at this forum for the past few months, but now that I just got my LMO ( ! ) I thought I'd share my timeline!
I don't have all the dates since the company lawyer took care of most of the paperwork and was always very reticent about the whole process, but this is what I pieced together:

NOC 2174
February 1st - Applied for LMO
March 7th file WP to CIC
March 10th WP expired
May 30th LMO approved

I'll be border hopping this weekend to activate my WP!
Best of luck to all of you, I know it's a stressful time!

My timeline

NOC code:4163
Applied in Toronto

Feb 6th - Application sent
Feb 10th - Application received
Feb 24th - File # allotted
March 17th - PGWP expired
May 9th - Employer called up to check status, was told that it takes 3 months to assign the file to an officer
May 24th - LMO approved
May 28th - Expected to receive it by mail

My PG work permit expired March 17th, 2012, however i kept on working for 2 and half months until i received a positive LMO.
If your temporary resident visa expires after you have submitted your application for an extension of your authorization to remain in Canada, you will be considered in status as a temporary resident until a decision is made on the application, known as an Implied Status. You are not permitted to start a new job but you are allowed to continue working (if you have a job)

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot! So what I understand is that If I have applied for LMO application and if my WP expired before the LMO approval comes, I can still continue working on the same job until a decision is made on my LMO case?

Kindly confirm if my understanding is correct.

That's right.

My Timeline:

NOC: 2232
Feb 13, 2012 - applied for LMO
End of Feb 2012 - assigned file number
End of Apr 2012 - applied for work permit extension
May 6, 2012 - work permit expired
June 12, 2012 - issued positive LMO!!!

Called CIC, they said I didn't have to do anything - they would get the LMO and the work permit would be sent via mail.

What a long, stressful process!!!

To my knowledge, an Implied Status is when your current WP expires but you already applied for a new one and just waiting for a decision.

Once CIC rejects your WP application (because of your unapproved LMO) you loose an Implied Status and must stop working even if you already have a job. Did you get your WP application rejected and still continued working?

My time line thus far.

End of Feb/Start of March: Application sent

Thanks! They had no calls. They were surprised to received a fax from Service Canada.

HI,

Just to provide you complete clarification, You have to apply for work permit extension before expiry of your work permit and mention in your application that you are applying for extension as your LMO is in process and mention your file number. REMEMBER - If you are not awaiting any reply from CIC you can't enjoy the privilege of IMPLIED STATUS.

SO if you are waiting for LMO but forget to send application to CIC for work permit extension, you cant continue working.

Thanks

Anyone have any idea what is going on with Service Canada?

My timeline:
End Feb - LMO sent
March 4th - Received file number
June 24th - LMO still not assigned to an officer for review, tomorrow will be 16 weeks.

Originally we were told the process takes 4 weeks, then 8, then 12, now 16 but still no progress.

My employer has wrote to them to try and expedite the process, but as this is their first one it didn't happen.

I am quickly running out of funds (not worked now for over 12 weeks)

I read some of the timeline above and some were submitted after me and some before, there doesn't seem to be a clear process? Any ideas what is going on?
