You can extend your work permit within 2 weeks before the expiration date of your current work permit. You will have to proof that your employer has submitted for your LMIA and you are still waiting the decision. When you get the decision, you will need to call to Service Canada and provide the LMIA result. If the LMIA result comes negative, then you will not be able to work anymore. You have two month to call Service Canada and provide the decision, otherwise you work visa extension might be refused.
