Dear Zanny,
I saw in your post that your funds were mainly located on your spouse's account. Looks like I am also in the same situation! Please could you advise something to solve my issues?
The matter is this. All our savings are on spouse's account, and the bank refuses to make a joint account for us (they do not have such policy in my country). The only thing they have suggested is to make an authorization letter from her to me, giving me the full rights to use the funds. However, now we are very suspicious whether it will work this way. Will this be sufficient, or may be we'd rather transfer the money to my account? Meanwhile, I had an account at the same bank few years ago, later it was closed, but they told if I wish to create a new account, they will reopen the old one, however there won't be any history in the 6-months back statements. So, Please advise something, seems you are the only member here who has been in the same boat... :-X
P.s. the statement of spouse's account shows that money have been transferred to her from her parents as 'fin.support'. Is there anything to do with that? In case if they consider that there is not enough information, will they require further evident documents, or this is direct refusal?
Hi valsanail,

The best thing to do now will to transfer everything in your account, get a gift deed on a stamp paper signed by your spouse clearly stating that this money was transferred out of love and affection for the immigration purpose and that she will not ask for this money back.

Regarding money being transferred from your in-laws into your spouse's account - if the tnx is more than 6 months old, don't worry. However if the tnx is recent, get a similar gift deed from them also.

Along with this, you must cover the PoF document with a cover page - stating details of your funds, source of it, and put account statements, gift deeds as annexures

Hope this helps. Do let me know if you need more clarity

Hi,
I made a mistake on my EE profile for job starting date. I started working there in December 2013 but accidentally put in November 2013. I got the ITA for the draw in December, so still have 2 years of experience and my CRS will remain the same even if I change the date on my application now but I am worried If this is an excuse for them ro refuse my application.
In November 2013 I was a full time stident in Canada so I was not working full time.
Any suggestions will help!
You can the following to be doubly sure:

1. Update the correct date when filling up form for AOR
2. Attach a letter of explanation along clearly stating that there was an error at your end and that you hv provided all the supporting documents this time around. Also do mention that mistake was not to increase any points and that even after correcting the mistake there is no change in points

If you make any changes which does not affect your points, I guess it should not make a difference. All the best!

Thank you friend for you response,
Let me check, do we need to notarize the gift deed? The money she has have been added to her account gradually, nearly every month, and the required amount was reached 3 months ago.
So please, tell me, will it be ok then, if I do not provide them a 6 months back bank history of my new-opened/reopened account?
And will we still need to provide spouse's bank accounts' statements in this case?

I am in the process of replying to my ITA by 22nd Oct. I want to share my story for everyone's benefit and lessons

1. Picking a consultant

I went in for a consultant for my application. The consultant was good for nothing. Except for filling forms, every piece of information I have got is from this group.

Lessons: Until or unless you are superb rich or/and lazy, don't go the consultant way

2. IELTS

I decided to get into EE in March and once consultant was hired, I started to look for IELTS dates. Unfortunately, there were no dates in Bangalore for next 3 months and in a moment of abs stupidity, I booked a slot in Goa. I later learnt that IELTS is a two day thing and it requires you to be in that city for at least 3 days.
For the exam, I really struggled with written section as the last I wrote anything non technical was way back in 2006.

Lessons: a) Book exam slots as early as possible and avoid exams in another city.
b) PLEASE PLEASE start to write using a pen and paper for IELTS. Computer and smartphones have destroyed our ability to write

3. WES Arranging original transcript is next to impossible in some universities using posts/emails. I tried for over 3 months and in the end I had to travel to my university, some 1,000 miles away, to get the transcripts.

Another thing, I am a PGDM in Finance. WES ignored my masters and rated me a bachelor only. I got their mail in the morning mentioning that I was only a bachelor and my master was a not masters in Canada. It meant 32 points and I was shattered. In my emotions, I wrote back to them that i need a review stating that my grad institute is one of the top institute of the country and that PGDM is indeed Masters. 18 days later, I got a mail revising my degree as masters. My point moved to 469 and I got an ITA

Lessons: a) Don't underestimate the complexity of processes. Please start the process to get the original transcripts as soon as you decide for EE
b) PGDM from some institutes in India is considered Masters by WES. The process is arbitrary and luck is important.

3. Letter from past employers

My manager in my previous job had left the organisation. It was a start-up which was/is growing at a CARG of 20%. In 3yrs, I had no idea who to connect to get letters. I had to trace my ex-manager, get a contact in the company, mail her everyday for 3 weeks to get the right letter

Lessons: a) Always be ready for some non-sense even at the easiest of steps
b) Never leave a company on bad terms

4. PoF

Asivad and Anuj are the treasure house of PoF. I thank them everyday I look at my PoF. Please follow their advice.

I had saved everything in my wife's account, who is a co-applicant with me. Post my ITA, my account had average balance of INR 30K while my wife's account had INR 500k. Rest of the savings were in mutual funds. Basically I was screwed.

Thanks to this forum, I learnt about e-stamp, gift deed, sale deed of financial assets. I got a proper paper trail done and now I have the required money in my savings account and I am in a position to explain every paisa in my account.

Lessons: a) If you are main applicant, please save every penny in your account. Use dependents account for expenses
b) Get papers right and be ready to explain every paisa in your account
c) there is some confusion on EPF being a PoF. Play safe. Get the required amount in your savings account and use EPF as extra proof

5. PCC

Should be easy? Not in my case. I applied for PCC at Police commissioner office on Infanty road and the process is actually very easy. However, my wife got an urgent travel plan to US. We got the msg for police verification on the morning of her travel. I went to the police station, sat there for an hour, made sure my wife signed every paper and left the police station only after being assured that the file was cleared.

Thankfully, Bangalore Police was polite and understood my situation.

Lessons: Don't spend your luck in stocks or casinos till you are in EE process. Life can screw you in amazing ways.

This is my story till now. The struggle has just began for me. Way too many miles still to walk before landing. I hope the journey ahead will be better.

Thanks again to this forum, especially to Asivad and Anuj Gupta.
Thank you for sharing your experiences

notorised - No. Self attest will be enough. That is what i did.

try not to get into the new account/reopened account thing. It complicates things and may raise a red flag. Not that this will create an issue but the process may get slow.

I would suggest - Transfer the whole amount from your wife's account into your account thru one single cheque and get the gift deed with details of the cheque along with a copy of the cheque. Also get a gift deed done from your in-laws mentioning the 3 tnx and details of it (e-payment code/cheque number)

Arrange the document like below:

1. Covering letter with details on your current balance, how you got to this balance (mention details of cheque number from ur wife) and how ur wife got it from ur in-laws
2. Annexure 1- Your 6 month account statement on BANK's LETTERHEAD
3. Annexure 2 - Gift deed from your wife along with copy of the cheque
4. Annexure 3 - Gift deed from your in-laws along with details of transfer
5. Annexure 4 - Any EPF statement (if you are in India) you have

This will be more than enough for PoF
3.

Hi Zenny,

Firstly, congratulations for your ITA. I'm quite overwhelmed with the way you are addressing all our queries.

I need your extended support in filing my application thru EE and I don't want to go thru any consultant. We are educated enough to fill an application form and use Internet technology & forums like these to help each other.

For some reasons, my profile is getting ineligible the moment I'm hitting the submit button. (Getting an auto-generated email stating Profile is Ineligible)
It happened twice. I don't know what am I doing wrong. My details as follows:
IELTS: L=7.5, R=8, S=7, W=7 Overall=7.5
WES: Bachelors 4 years (Though it's MA in Economics. On your advise I've approached WES to review my degrees. Awaiting reply)
Age: 38
Experience: 13 years in Credit & Collections & Accounts receivable Manager
Funds: CAD 20,000
Dependent: Parents only

1. I'm not able to find the correct education subject as Economics is not listed as an option. If I select Arts or humanities. That's not my field of work
2. im unable to find the correct NOC equivalanet to my experience
3. Do I need to upload my documents while creating a profile as I cant see an option of uploading documents?
4. Is it OK to create as many profiles as mentioned on CIC website. Hope this would not create an issue in evaluating my profile.

Would appreciate if you help me in updating my profile correctly.

Thanks,
Dimple

From what I can see, you are above 67 points and hence u are good to apply

check NOC code of 0122 and 1431

Documents upload is not needed while applying. Documents are needed after ITA

Please create just one profile. Do it right the first time.

Thanks for info zanny,
My query is for POF docs:
1)Firstly my Inland account has only 500CAD at time of invitation recently, does that make me ineligible to accept the same?

2)my inland account got sudden credit of big money from my overseas account 2 months back (sadly all used up now :(), do I have to attach my overseas account statement also to prove source OR is it enough to just mention in LOE?

3)As I have just 500CAD in my inland account, does my dad's gift deed enough to fulfil the requirement for 12000CAD?

Thanks a ton for advice mate.

Well if would hv been in your position, I would hv doen the below:

1. get gift deed from dad and use his account statement in annexure
2. Get account statement of the overseas account in the annexure and explain the large tnx in my inland account in the cover letter/LoE

CAD 500 at time of ITA is not an issue. You must hv the desired amount when u submit the application post the ITA

Hope this helps

CIC doesn't say that anywhere but they do explicitly ask for POF only from the PA. There was at least 1 forum member who reported that CIC considered only the funds available in the member's account and questioned them about the balance POF even though the applicant had shown accompanying spouse's accounts as well. The accompanying spouse's money wasn't considered by CIC probably because it wasn't a joint account with the PA's name on it as well.
Asivad, In that case should the accompanying spouse provide any written confirmation to CIC as he/she has no issues for her/his spouse to use the funds towards PoF?

Hi Zanny,

First of all congratulations for the invitation and thank you for sharing your experience and learnings.

Me and my spouse are also PGDM Marketing degree holders. I'll be applying to WES in a week or so for both our assessments. I've been reading a lot of posts just like yours that mention that the WES evaluation was revised to masters after an explanation email was sent to WES by the candidate.
I'll be very grateful if you could pls share what did you write in your explanation to WES and did you include any documents as proof points for them to consider it as masters? Our institution is also amongst the top in India, AICTE approved, AIU considers the PGDM as MBA equivalent etc. etc.

Also instead of waiting for them to come back with a bachelors evaluation and later explaining our stance and wasting time along the way, would it be okay if I send across these proof points along with a cover letter to WES in the first go?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
