Hi friends,
Any idea regarding carrying food items in luggage(pickles, dry fruits etc) while landing at Toronto airport? One of my friend says there was a news that since march this year its going to be very strict and probably make delay in our landing formalities If we have any food related things in luggage!!!!!!
Anybody have experience please share..............

Last time I carried cookies and dried mangoes in my checked-baggage and was instructed for secondary inspection. The custom officer let me go after he unseal the packages and sniffed them.

It wouldn't delay your landing formalities but probably would delay your connecting flights due to secondary inspections.

No need to carry spices, they're available widely in Toronto area.

My father had bought sweets last year without issues, he declared sweets and customs was ok with them coming in.

Just avoid dairy products and/or meat.

If you are travetling from Pakistan then the best option is PIA because of your child. I have travelled with Emirates to Canada and that was my worst air travelling experience and i would advise all to avoid Emirates. All they have are good promotion throughout the world but in reality, their services are worst than rubbish.

Hi fsarosh,

Is it possible you can share your experience with us kindly?
So that others can know what to expect on Emirates.

Currently it is taking around 64 days to receive the PR Card, from day of landing.

No application form needed, One of the COPR's will be used to make PR Cards. You will get a copy at the airport of the COPR's.

Honestly, as a frequent traveler, I consider Emirates to be the best airline. Though I traveled business class on the A380 during the flight to Canada, I have used emirates economy class for many other long haul flights. They do have issues with connections though, due to the air traffic at Dubai airport, so never choose a connection of less then 3 hours in Dubai.

Sir

I agree that at present amongst Asian Airlines , Emirates (Other than Singapore Airlines) is the best - Otherwise , there is no match of professionalism of Lufthansa

1. 5 years.

2. During landing at the airport

3. During landing at the airport but if you don't have one, you can provide it later

4. SIN card is through Service Canada. I have heard they are at some airports now. If you don't see one, you can go to Service Canada in town and apply there.

5. You are not eligible for a health card if you are just visiting. You can apply for it once you come back to settle. In AB, you would apply for it at a registry.
