Have following questions if any know know.

1) myself and spouse received PR Visas on our passports but our 4 month old who is an american citizen (with american passport) did not, though we all received COPRs. Did CPP-O forgot to put a visa or they generally don't put it for infants/kids? It has nothing to do with being an infant.. they don't put visas on passports that are from visa exempt countries (including USA). You are good to go.

2) As we have a 4 month old baby i was thinking myself alone can complete the landing procedure at toronto and then come back after applying for SIN and Health Card
a. can i apply for all family member SIN's or just for me? You cannot apply for a SIN of someone who has not completed landing yet.
b. can i apply for my health card and come back...so that when we migrate after 3-4 months i have a health insurance? The health card process is not 3 months long. The requirement is that you must live in Ontario for 3 months to become eligible for health card. This allow you to apply as soon you land just so you are not impacted by the processing time. Though many people doing short landings apply for the health card and head back to their home countries, I want to highlight that this is illegal.
c. can i apply for my spouse and infants health card along with mine so that they have health card in 3-4 months ...by the time they migrate? Currently it takes 3 months to get a health card in Ontario. No. Proof of address and proof of landing are the 2 main requirements for applying.

Please help.

LANDED..........
Booked for 17th April 2014
Hi All,

I have a few queries....
I am landing in April mid in Toronto. I will be landing with my spouse and 4 year old. I want to know that as 3 people I will be having 6 bags plus 3 handbags and laptops etc, how can I transport my luggage to my apartment? Also, i am planning to have few more bags sent thru cargo, how can I get them delivered/carried to my apartment?

Another query is that after landing, my spouse will be travelling back to India say after 2 months, As per one of the post, you need to be in Ontario for 3 months in order to apply for health card. So, if he stays in Toronto for 90 days, but not in continuation , can he still apply for health card after meeting residency requirement of 90 days? He will be frequently travelling between India and Canada for the first year.

Any help or input is appreciated.

I can't help you with the luggage query but as for OHIP, he needs to be in Canada for at least 153 days in the 6 months after arriving in order to be eligible for OHIP. The 3 months is how long you wait until you get covered. If he is not going to be staying 5 out of 6 months, he is not eligible to apply, simple as that. Once he is ready to settle, he can apply for his OHIP. The problem trying to apply for it right away when he is leaving again is that although he may get it, if OHIP finds out later that he did not stay 153 days, they can accuse him of fraud.

I agree with Leon here. There is nothing stopping your husband from applying for OHIP, as soon as you have your proof of address document and he will without a doubt get his OHIP card in the mail with everyone else. However in very rare cases Canadian authorities do learn that you have not fulfilled the residency requirements (as mentioned by Leon above) and treat this as a fraud case.

Also, i am planning to have few more bags sent thru cargo, how can I get them delivered/carried to my apartment? Logically the easiest (though the most expensive) choice would be to hire multiple taxis. The second choice (if you both drive) is to directly rent 2 cars (or 1 van) from the airport and drive to your new apartment, I rent from these guys and am very happy with prices and service: http://www.enterpriserentacar.ca/car_rental/home.do and you can return the cars to the location nearest to you. Third option is to hire someone offering moving services to pick you up from the airport, there are many individuals offering moving at reasonable rates, find them here: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/f-services-moving-storage-W0QQCatIdZ144 , talk to few of them for rates... I assuming you do not have friends that can pick you up.

Hi there, may I know if I can bring more the $30k USD/CAD in cash upon landing? Just anxious if we will be ask since we'r going to bring more than $10k. thank you
Better carry 10,000 in cash and the rest in the form of bank draft. This is most convenient method. Why increasing your problems at the time and after your landing? What if they tells you if it is not allowed or allows you a painful solution to carry that money?

Dear members of forum

I am planning for landing in April 2014 and am searching airlines. Does anyone have any experience with Saudi airline? Its fare is on a lower side currently. However, thinking a lot about this airline as I have an infant with me. Tried searching views about that airline and overall I can say it depends on staff, airline & importantly luck. Same reviews required for egypt airways too(by the way one forum member Hasni wrote good review about Egypt airways and if anyone can share more, will be helpful).
If you are travetling from Pakistan then the best option is PIA because of your child. I have travelled with Emirates to Canada and that was my worst air travelling experience and i would advise all to avoid Emirates. All they have are good promotion throughout the world but in reality, their services are worst than rubbish.

Let me help you with the luggage part. Like in my case, I made a pre-landing arrangement with a local minivan driver. We had 3 people plus 1 dog, so we have 6 bags, 3 handbags and 1 huge kennel - the minivan pick up all of us and those belongings to our home. Hope you do not have to take the stairs to bring your luggages to your new home. :)
