Canadaforall,
It is only in Nigeria that online courses are not recognised or looked down on. It is highly recognied in advance world. But i will suggest that let all course that you will do be with a canadian school. Some professional exams are same all over the world. Like CCNA, PMP, IIBA and others.

Hi Oloye,
Thanks so much for the information. Yes, i was asking because we are still out of Canada and i keep getting different information about online courses. Yes, it is a Canadian school. It is a professional program in education counseling. I will red about it again and try to enroll for it then.

Thanks

Why not wait until you get to canada to start your course. There are many co-op programs where you can study and get paid while you study. Online programs are just zero. Even, should you go for online program and obtain a certificate, you will still need a canadian experience regardless your experience and qualification outside canada. This expereince can be obtained via co-op programs from any of the canadian university, poly and colleges. The online corses are:
1. They are too expensive.
2. Few employers honour the certificates.
3. Where you obtain your certificate in canada speaks a lots and schools are graded accordingly to what they offer and produce.

This is just a suggestion though, you may follow what is good for you.

Hi Seglad,
Thanks for the advice. I will just wait until i get the PR. Still waiting for medicals since my application wnet in process in June 2010. No communication yet. so boring to wait.

Just have to be patient.

Thanks

Good day Oloye,
Just in case you have real time connection with Project Managers (Construction) or project coordinators out there. what Should one come with from 9ija? or what should one expect on landing?

Thanks alot.

My people,
Happy new year to everyone that has read or contributed to this thread. Each passing day draws us closer to our canadian dream and hence we must strive to make our life dear successful even while still here. To this end, every idea/advise by anyone will be highly appreciated.

We are still asking for business ideas and a friend on the thread told me of a franchise arrangement or buyout in which we can buy into food or gas sales business. Please we need more light on this.

My question basically is; what business or franchise can one invest in? how much will it cost to buy a franchise e.g Gas Station? are there any legal restrictions? tax issues etc. Please lets keep on brainstorming and planning as some of us and our spouses are entering our 40s and might not like the idea of searching for job afresh?

This question will be best responded to by the landed ones who are business inclined. As we all know that business and especially entrepreneurship are hinged on needs identification. So brothers and sisters out there will be in the best position to tell us. looking at the size of Canada compared with the population there. And the influx of new immigrants and the existing laws and policies one can only imagine what opportunities avails themselves out there.

people, i just stumbled on this census2011.gc.ca, the census will be holding May to June, they are going to pay for the services in different categories, so please if you are interested, apply so you can follow the procedures

This message is not clear sir/ma.....can you be a little bit clearer...Is it for landed or awaiting members?

Right, i think dreamteam is referring to landed immigrants.
My brother Accra has woken up but i realized that the Visas are for those who did medicals early last year. Some persons that submitted full documents in April, May and June are yet to get medical request so lets hope Accra will call them for medicals so we can be sure that ours will follow soon after them.

I however as always will advise that we use the about one year that we have left of this process to plan for our landing and eventual successful stay in canada. We cannot afford to land b4 we start planning.

My regards

My people,
Quite some time! i hope all is well with everyone of us? As we await Accra's positive response on our application let us remember that the time to plan is now, it would be very bad if we await receipt of Visa before we start planning.

Barsindo and Prof have thrown some light on the issue of business and franchise you can see thier response on our main thread. I will however will want to know about house purchase in Canada. please landed seniors can you tell how much an average 3 bedroom house will cost? (please dont refer me to websites i can hardly understand their message) i mean if its an outright purchase, on the other hand, if one one wants to make like 50% down payment how much will the monthly payment be? please dont say she ask too many questions its all part of the planning process.

We have about 15 more months to land by the grace of God if all things to go well and it will be good for hubby and I if we can sort out all these issues in good time.

Your responses will be appreciated
thanks for your time
Tinu

I totally agree with Tinu, loads of information there guys.
I have been living in Canada for 6 years now and from my experience, networking and staying positive is the key to landing a good job. You can start with finding a good church, and ask a lot of questions about the what and the how.
As for me, I attend House of Praise, a parish of the Redeemed chritian church in Mississauga Ontario, and i got my connections from there. I am not advertizing for the church, but the Pastor always talks aboout practical ways to excel and have a good life in Canada. ( My fantastic job as an SAP consultant today is as a result of the info I got from the church.)You will also find lots of Nigerians in different professions doing very good that will be willing to put you through. you can even land that big job and afford a nanny ( i don't know about why you would want to have a driver here though, except you are like one huge executive of microsoft or something)
Never believe the negative things people say about not finding good jobs, I believed from the begining that I will make it, and I so love my life today.
Canada is a great place to live in.
