My situation is similar to your in terms of ages, and places.
My common-law partner (in UK) and I lived together for a while when I was in the UK (studying), part of the time we lived together in Canada at my Mom's place (and she provided a letter to support this). We lived together in total for just over a year when we sent the application in.. and ITS BEEN PROCESSED in 3 months! (very exciting I know). It took us MONTHS to put everything together in a super complete and organized manner, and we paid the full amount right away! I would suggest that you MAKE THE TIME FIT. My take on this is that everything else is legit... you have pictures, parents have met (mine came to the UK and met and had dinner with his parents while they were traveling around- PICTURE of this sent to immigration as well), I would open a joint banking account, purchase some kinda of joint travel insurance together.. etc..
either way.. if you need more help feel free to contact me..

Okay, so I'm confused reading all the posts. I have just one question. Have you lived together for at least a year, non-stop? Not just visiting one another and such.

I lived with him here in jamaica at my moms house for one year from December 2011 to jan 2013 but again its my moms house I'm only 25 by the way. I wouldnt have any legal doc or letter to show tht we were living together.no postal letter no ntn like dat. Tht is the only thing I do nt have and thts y I was inquiring so much about my filing options personally I know I wiuld qualify as a common law applicant if I had this information I haver everything else to the tee. But they (my bf and his aunt) are the ones tht dont want to cancel and resubmit. They say if cic see us a common law ciuple they will change it and requested the need document s. So I jus give up and leave it to them an Jesus.

Okay, well I hope for your sake that they accept it, but it's unlikely. I mean we've given all our opinions and would love for you to keep us updated as we always like to hear how thins go for others :)

You do have a say as you are the applicant! Don't let them mess your chances for coming to Canada up!!!

Oh oh. I hope everything is okay Hun. You would need to contact CIC in Mississauga to cancel the application and also the visa office in Kingston.

The information can be found on the CIC website.

Here is the link

YAH MON! Jamaica wi soon reach!

Safe travel to all of you, Nini, Mel, Sh & baby Sh ;D
Wishing you all a thrilling Family trip with your loved ones.

Mel will it be the first time your daugther meets her father in law?

Sh & Sh, your baby will meet her daddy and feel his body warmth for the first time, wow that will be an emotional moment for the entire family. Pure hapiness it will be!!!

You girls are all leaving for two weeks? I would do many things to be able to attend the reggae sumfest with my hubby!!! The week was already taken by one of my colleague and I never got to go :'( Sting in KG is always during Christmas holidays and if I leave the country with her grandson again during that period, I'll probably won't live long enough to give my mom another grandchild lol! :P

Enjoy you vacations to the fullest ladies.

Good morning JamFam,

Happy Sunday!!! What a beautiful one it is in the T.Dot. Hope everyone gets to enjoy some of the sunshine and great weather.

Congratulations!!! To all those that have heard or received good news from Kingston.

Welcome!!! To the newbies and Howdy!!! To the Seasoned Members!!!

Safe Trip and Bon Voyage to all the Wives/Husbands going down to see their wonderful Spouses.

This process is not easy and there is no "Cookie Cutter" answer or reason to how this journey plays out. Just know that when your time comes and it will whether it is 6 months or the entire processing time "IT" will come!!! I cannot stress enough how important this time is to strengthen the key foundations in your marriage i.e. Communication...Trust...Understanding...Respect and so on!!!

The REAL journey doesn't begin until they actually land. You and partner have endless conversations about what life is going to be like and what you intend on doing. Talking about it and actually Living it are completely different. The adjustment phase is not easy, believe me the honeymoon phase doesn't last forever. There will be new hurdles and difficulties that will continue to test your marriage. However, if you have a strong and sturdy foundation in place then adjusting to life in Canada together can be made easier.

All I am trying to say is the distance and separation are hard and at times feel as though it will never end just know that this immigration process doesn't end once your spouse gets their VISA...so make the most of the present and within time the Future will come.

Stay Sweet as Always & May the Odds Be in Your Favour!!!
