Stereotyping is a part of life, and nowhere do we all see it as much as when we get into this process. People look at you differently, those of you who are our Canadian spouses, wondering what on earth you can all be thinking, to marry someone from so far away, and how you could possibly be thinking that this will ever work and surely you all know you're just being taken for a ride because everyone wants to come to Canada!

They look at us differently, your Jamaican spouses. They think just how devious and desperate we must be, to work so hard to convince those of you who marry us that we love you and will be true to you. They wonder just how good of a liar we must all be, and speculate on the circumstances of our lives in Jamaica that surely must be the driving forces behind our decisions to marry and move away from there.

People will talk. And usually those with nothing constructive to say are the ones with the loudest mouths. You have to live your life, and expect people to talk and all you can do about them is ignore them and get on with your lives. Spend too much time getting wired about other people's opinions and you will waste precious time for other activities.

:'( ready mu gyal.....try to rise above peoples crap. Tell 'em straight up didn't ask for your opinion and I don't want it. I gave the 'stink eye' when I had comments come my way like those. You can't change peoples opinions, they chose to be ignorant, leave 'em. Big hugs to you. I'm not sure if anyone on here has read The Secret....I am telling you from absolute first hand experience IT WORKS! Think and fill your life with only positive people and thoughts and energy.
I've been laid off, last day of work in friday, this is the second time it's happened during our process. I had a good cry, then let it go, I can't control what happens, I'm just sending resumes left n right and really visualizing a job...and I pray.
That saying is true..."good things come to those who wait"....you watch us...our time is here....NOW!

Ready-I can feel you on the too. I had quite a few bad mind my husband and I when we got married. Sure, we only met 3 months prior but I'm a big girl and can make my own decisions. I actually had to cut out alot of friends cause they were only being negative about the whole situation and that aint right no mater a friend or not. One of my best friends was actually going around telling people it won't last cause he's using me..Much to my surprise, she hooked up with his friend, had a kid, she wouldn't marry him cause of her fears and boom he left her for another girl while me and my hubby going on 6 years strong. My opinion is she should of married him and they would have been a big happy family. So now whos the fool. Damn idiots fi mind dem own!!
