Mrs. D. - even thought the letter was dated July 22nd, what might matter more is if the envelope has a postmarked date on it. If the postmark on the letter from the High Commission was delayed you can prove that you were not given the proper amount of time. Does the post office have any other ways of logging receipt of mail that they could also find additional evidence? I'm sure your husband checked his mail many times before Friday........why was the letter so late getting to the post office?
I agree with the advice of the other members to get your MP and the minister's office on this, but see if you can find out about the postmarks as well. Saying prayers for you, do not lose hope. Blessings.
