ooh, I am preparing for the worst though I am really wanting to remain positive. But its now 15 weeks and still no decision on his TRV. He is so darn optimistic though. and I told him do not call me at work if you have bad news, cause I too will drop the phone and cry tears but at least we will not be in limbo and I will proceed to visit him immediately. Its been 6 months since we last saw each other - daily calls and Skype is always welcomed but we are longing to be in each others arms :(

Good Morning everyone! I just got back from Jamaica yesterday a week was way too short!!! missing my husband like crazy n its only been a couple of days since I left. :( I got to work this morning and I had sent Kingston a email from my work email and this is what they sent back to me.

Dear Madam

Thank you for your email.

This Family Class application was received by our office on 25 September 2012 after being forwarded by Case Processing Centre Mississauga. This application is currently pending initial review, after which we will contact the applicant directly to advise the outcome of the review and any next steps.

We are striving to make our processing of Family Class applications as efficient as possible. We continue to meet our commitment to a service standard of 6 months to finalization for at least 80% of cases for sponsored spouses, partners, and children. Processing times are calculated from the date the application is approved by Case Processing Centre Mississauga, after which it is sent to the visa office for further processing. For individual cases, actual processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the application and the number of new applications received by the visa office.

Applicants can check the status of their case on the CIC website by clicking on Client Application Status. For actual processing times of permanent resident applications in Kingston for the last 12 months, please click here. Applicants may also refer to our website, www.jamaica.gc.ca, for more information about processing times.

Regards

Can anyone tell me what initial review means? I hope everyone is having a great monday and hopefully this is just the start to a great week that we all hear good news from Kingston :)
Hello JA folks, I keep an eye on the activities in this thread along with the the Port of Spain Office in Trinidad, which is where my husband's application is headed to (or sitting at :D). as it seems there are a lot of "unfortunate similarities between the 2 offices :(.

I find it very interesting that on CIC's website url - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/service-standards.asp
the 2011/2012 service standard which is the most up to date one they have posted - is listed at 12 months (not 6 months) for spouse/partner/dependent child PR applications. It seems odd to me (but take it as maybe a positive sign ;)?) that Kingston now has stated (in writing to a client) that 6 months is the service standard in spite of the website still saying 12 months.

So all you folks that have been waiting longer than 6 months (and it appears to be many) should now be able to refer to that written document stating Kingston's service standard is now 6 months apparently, and collectively rattle your MP's cages and get them calling Kingston more. On our thread one of the sponsors had not heard anything for 5 months, she sent a CSE to POS VO, got a reply within 24 hours and then received her AOR within 48 hours. Squeaky wheel can still be polite but keep on squeaking ;D. Blessings to all during this challenging time.

Hello tessi68, I have never heard of a TRV taking this long before. The processing time at Kingston office is 42 days which is about 6 weeks. Have you called/faxed/emailed to make sure they have received your TRV application and someone is actually reviewing it? They are usually more on track with TRVs so I suggest you or hubby follow up to make sure there has not been an error. Good luck!

Good evening CdnandTrini!

Thanks for visiting us and offering us your support. I think we have all resigned ourselves to be good girls and boys and allow Kingston to do their job without contacting them. Lately, it seems that most people that email them get no response or receive a 'don't call us, we'll call you' reply. And as much as we would love to quote the processing times, whatever they may be (6 months, 12 months, 18 months, etc.) I'm fairly certain our emails will go unanswered or they would tell us that we are well within the processing timelines of 80% of applications being processed within 18 months. *sigh*

Good luck in your process and drop by any time. The more the merrier!

Hi Nevaeha, I hear you. I have seen those posts/e-mails too. It just seems to me that the VO's would get fewer e-mails if they were consistent in their processes and communications. I am resigned as well (most of the time :D) to the wait, I like to think of it as letting go and letting God. That's on a good day!! Blessings.

Goodnight forum, today I was checking the Jamaica.gc.ca website to see when their next holiday is and I noticed that on May the 1st Jamaica opened up two new visa application centres. One in Kingston and One in Montego Bay. Now I'm wondering if that was the hold up with our files.

Very neat!
Hoping that two more visa offices means faster work. Also I hope we can all fly home on the same plane, and boost westJets profits through the roof.

Have to remind myself to buy westJet stocks once we start getting all the ppr's that are owed to us :p
