I had my husband write the UCI # and file # on the top of the certificate and then also on the outside of the envelope

Hey sis wat up ..... yes both my medical and police record are up now..........when i do the police record and the medical do i have to send it in by myself or they will send it for me........tell me what do i need to have when i go and get them dun please

I read somewhere very recently that if you redo the medicals unprompted by the visa office , that it could cause a "serious" delay. Reason being is that each completed medical is treated as if you are a brand new applicant since the certificates come with a unique identifier and likely cause confusion for CIC (regardless if you indicate your UCI number). However if you redo the medicals when the visa officer requests for it, they likely have their system set up so that it would easily match up your existing file with the redo at the requested time.

This makes sense since the website clearly states that redo's are not encouraged until instructed to do so by CIC. If I can find this info, I'll certainly post for you.

I've also heard that when you are are asked to redo the medicals it takes 4 weeks to receive the request, then a week to complete and another 3 weeks to process them....so that right there is another 8 weeks of waiting. If nothing has been done with your file, and you can tell by the GCMS notes, why wait for them to ask for a redo and just do it yourself. It saves you the 8 weeks of waiting for Kingston to receive them after they request it. You know that when they call to request to get them done again you are right near the end..but is the 8 weeks of waiting for them to receive them, process them and everything worth it...plus the call for the passport and the waiting time for the visa pick up...that can take another 2-3 weeks.

I guess it's each person's own choice of how they want to do it but from reading many many things on here about all this I have seen many people redo their medicals before being promted

Oh and on a good note - my papers are almost done being filled out and now I am wiating for the hubby to get his medical and send everything up to me. Hoping to fill all the papers just after the holidays

With that said however, it may be worthwhile to get a head start by obtaining another copy of your police clearance certificate if that has expired and wait to get instructions for the medicals as there is always a chance that the visa officer could request an extension on them.

EDIT: I recall Blondie posted saying that she recently received a note from the visa office that a request to have her husbands medicals extended were submitted.

Hey everyone!

Halfmoon was correct. Hubby sent an email asking if he should redo the mess since they were going to expire and received a response stating that they already applied for an extension.

Other people That I have spoken too outside this forum have received extensions from Kingston as well. One lady did redid her medicals and sent them in only to find out Kingston had already gotten an extension. But it's up to you. Every case is different.. And even though they ask, it's not guaranteed.. It depends on your previous med results.

In my case they haven't said anything since in terms of hubby having to redo so I figure he passed. On to the next step! COPR hopefully!

Edit: I deleted my post regarding the steps for filling out the paperwork for GCMS notes because there is an updated form. If anyone was following the steps I posted earlier today, please don't because they will not accept them past January 1, 2013. Sorry for any confusion. :-[
