I read on the ecas that they only update application status' on Tuesdays. Has anyone had theirs updated on any other day?

HELP...HELP...HELP...HELP

Need help from everyone, I received an update from my MP who reached out to Kingston to get the status of my application:

RESPONSE FROM IMMIGRATION
Sponsor approved in October 11
File transferred to Kingston
File assigned to agent for processing in May
Medicals passed
Background checks are pending (meaning checking out local and international etc)
Application in process
They are working within the time limit. Jamaica processing taking 16 mos.
Indicating it could be in 2013 before it is complete

Has anyone received this kind of information before and know if I'm really looking at 2013 before I'm reunited with my hubby????

Hi FLK...did ur spouse travel outside Jamaica?? and to answer your question, It just an estimation. Since Jamaica's processing time is currently at 16 months, they are saying it could possibly take that long...but he can come before that, there are plenty of others on here that filed after you and go approved so justckeep the positive energy and vybz flowing...your thing will soon sort out.

Yes, in fact he travelled outside of Jamaica quite frequently when he was working with Buju.

Thats why his background check is taking long..they have to get background checks for every country he's been to...just hold up ur head, a little while longer....you made it through over 11 months already...u can hold it through these last few days...ur almost there!

Thanks so much for that ceeallen, because we've been racking our brains trying to understand really why it's taking so long. I guess what we think is a routine case is really not at all. He finished two passports in travel :o.

When they say they are doing background checks, do you know what they are checking for?

Also if he's visited Canada, there may well possibly be an RCMP check which they could request especially if he's been here for an extended time period.

I just love my forum family, you all are so knowledgeable. Thanks so much ceeallen and halfmoon. You helped put my mind at ease. My husband has travelled extensively when he was younger and he spent almost 6 months with me here in Canada in 2010 before we got married so I can understand how all what you've said is playing out. It helps me to calm down and know that nothing is necessarily wrong, we just have a non-routine case particularly given my husbands travel history. Thanks so much again and God bless you both.

Yes love, no problem, thats what we're all here for..God bless u too sweety

ceeallen and halfmoon where do you both reside. I live outside of Toronto in a small town in the east.

They'll only do checks for places where he's travelled since turning 18 and I'm pretty certain that as part of your application, you would have had to provide security certificates for any place he's resided for more than 6 months.

Does anyone know at which point they do a back ground check for the sponsors or if one is requested at anypoint of the process?

I'm DT T.Dot FLK. :)
What is the name of your small town?
