This is IP1. However, it has happened countless of times before that someone went from IP1 straight to PPR. So the "Background Check" status doesn't seem to be a precise indication whether they are actually working on your background check or not.

It appears it's just a matter of a specific button/checkbox etc. the officer clicks at some point.

very true... One of my friend went from IP1 to PPR on the same day.. he was CEC-Inland,, 4 months from AOR to PPR

I just finished calling IRCC at 888.842.2100. The wait time was approximately 35 minutes, and the agent was very helpful. I asked specifically for the latest status of my eligibility, criminality and security assessments, and mentioned that I had a ghost update last week (using slightly different terminology obviously :p)

She asked if I could stay on hold for 5min. so she could check the latest information. She then told me the application actually already had been approved on August 30 (the day of my ghost update) and that I will receive a letter of correspondence in my MyCIC account soon. This part confused me, as I thought PPR is always communicated directly by email?
congratulations mate.. :)

Guys my AOR is 27th June and i called the CIC agent to check :
MEP: 14th July passed
Eligibility: Satisfied

CiC agent told me that this is my latest update and my Security, BC & criminality check not yet started.

Little worried with Eligibility satisfied status, there is no movement.

Do we have anyone in the same boat here.

5th week in a row and again disappointing, no pprs or movements in our applications. Let’s pray for speedy movements in next week. There is also update scheduled Tuesday which may bring good news for some of them hopefully.

Yeah seems like the speed has slowed down a lot and also there was news that this ITA lot was the largest in 2018. So a lot more applicants will get added soon. They need to really pick up pace now.

Seems the rain has stopped :( Not even a single PPR entry this week on this thread...

What Tuesday update? Could you link it?

Looking at the other threads, the lack of movement isn't just isolated to our batch. I'm not sure why, but they really really have slowed down a lot, although I believe a noticeable delay between approval and PPR/interview has arised (my own application included). I've seen a few cases now on this forum where people had a ghost update (likely to be an approval) in mid-August, and only got their PPR/interview this week. Applicants used to be notified of the approval of their applications much quicker.

That's true. Even people are getting stucked after ip2 for many days which was not the case earlier.
Regarding update, i meant there is scheduled maintenance on cic site. I have read on this forum earlier that pprs are sent in batches after this maintenance activity. May be you can get yours as well on tuesday itself or wednesday.

I have noticed one thing, most of may, june and july applicants visa office is ottawa. Is that the reason for delay? I guess they havent transferred files to local office because of which most of us are stuck at ip1. I called twice and got same reply as most of people over here as background not strated and rest looks good, you are within six months timeline etc......

In the same boat - since my eligibility is met and bg hasnt started, I am not even ordering notes because there wont be anything new in them.

Yeah it would reflect same status in gcms notes as well so why to waste hard earned money. I am planning to order in october if my file doesnt show any movement.

I will call again in a months time (when I hit 4 months post AOR) to see whats going on. If BG starts by then, then I will order notes to see whats the status

I hope they will send out some PPRs after Tuesday, but we'll see....personally it doesn't matter for me as I'm already working in Canada and have plenty of time (work permit expires March 2019) but I can see it being very frustrating for people outside Canada, or whos status in Canada is expiring soon.

My thought for the slow movement is that:
(1) They have started to issue more ITAs than ever before
(2) August is a very popular month in Canada to be taking vacation time

So I believe they simply have too many applications to look at, and decide to prioritize early-stage applications rather than late-stage ones?
