To all friends who are already living in Canada - is learning French REALLY recommended when moving to Canada? I’m getting impatient with this wait for PR, so thinking to divert my mind by doing something productive.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not really recommended. Only helpful when you plan to live & work in Quebec.

Depends where you want to settle/what kind of job you will pursue. I live in BC - it makes more sense to learn Mandarin if anything. There's absolutely zero point in learning French, besides some customer service and government jobs.

Language of commerce in most of Canada(except for Quebec) is English....
But there is no harm in learning a different language... French, Mandarin, Italian are just some of the languages you brush up on...

Mandarin you say? WOW, in that case I can save a lot of time. HAHA.

At this stage, I am just hoping for any update. 3 months 2 days since IP1!
Same here. Its been long wait with no updates and kinda boring to see same status. Lets wish they dedicate this week to june applicants and there is rain of pprs.

Even update is scheduled which means there is high probability of people receiving pprs. Lets hope for the best.

Just a heads up for the user calculating %ages of PPRs for past months, keep in mind that after several days without updating (51 days in my case) your profile goes inactive and won't show in the initial table so if you are calculating the % out of the filtered cases presented, it will seem to be going up while the truth is the amount of filtered cases is going down (June: 437 last week compared to 420 this week). If you are calculating using the number of total cases (594 in June) then ignore me :p and btw thanks for taking your time to make those posts :)
