CIC is going to send the application where ever they see fit, no matter where the applicant wants it to be sent. There are obviously protocols we do not know about that determines where an application will go if the applicant is not currently residing in their home country.

I pray they send our application to Manila, My wife is Filipino but is currently in Thailand working. Her intension is to go back to the Philippines once PPR request is given. Has anyone been successful at having an application relocated at their own request if it has been sent to an undesirable office?

I waant to ask one more question
When visa office approv the spouse visa will they ask me to send my passport to them or they will issue me the some COPR letter as I am temporaryly holds permit of Portugal??
2- if they ask me to send my passport and on that time if iam not in Portugal and lets say I am in my home country Pakistan or my brothers contry Norway will that be ok for both of us so that they can return my Passport back wherw ever I am I mean which ever contry will be I ?? Coz I am planing to go my home contry so was a bit concern about this any help will be highly appreciated and thanks.

Hi, everyone! :)
I sent my application on 10th June and then our waiting game just started!
In my cace, I also need to take process in Quebec, so I just hope everything will go smoothly...

Good luck to all of us!

Hello! Yes, good luck to everyone and let's all keep up the positivity :D
Is that really true about the Paris visa office, rhcohen2014, 4-6 months processing time? Wow, I hope to see similar results, but I guess it will be a lot slower in the summer? The waiting game is pretty stressful.

yes, it's true. paris is pretty quick! Ottawa is getting quicker too. Ottawa March applicants are getting PPRs right now, so that's suggesting 5-6 month processing. Just because it's the summer, doesn't mean it'll be slower. The government has summer students that help, so maybe they are helping pick up the slack! To see what the current "Trend" is for Paris, find the visa office thread. There is usally a spreadsheet that tracks progress, so it will show you how long to expect. For the most part, waiting for SA is the most frustrating part to get through.

Hello everyone,

I'm brand new to this form. In fact it's my first post in any form, ever :)
Seems like a great way to stay informed and relate to others who are going through similar experiences! CIC received our Outland spousal application on June 10th and I added my info to the spreadsheet. Hopefully some of us will be getting SA soon. Is it just me or have they slowed down within the last year for SAs?

Anyways, hoping for a smooth process for everybody.

Thank you!!
Eliza

Hello Eliza, yes they have slowed down in recent months.
Which visa office are you applying from...

Hello,

My husband's visa office is Santo Domingo. I am hoping it doesn't take as long as the statistics show. A friend of ours went through the same process using the Santo Domingo visa office for Outland spousal. Their package was received by that office on December 3rd, 2013 and he obtained the Visa/PR end of April. Pretty quick!! His wife had obtained SA approval in 18 days. Maybe they just got lucky? ;)

the length of time it takes for SA varies, so back in december, it probably did only take 2-3 weeks to get SA. The change in office organization and the amount of applications caused the processing time to increase. Right now it's taking about 2 months. The good news is that certain visa offices seem to be speeding up, so for some the wait after SA isn't as long as CIC's statistics suggests. To know the current "trend" for santo domingo, check to see if there is a thread dedicated to that visa office.

I am at 50 days waiting time according to the June spreadsheet. The 55 days that is mentioned as the website, are those 55 business days or simply 55 calendar days? I am starting to look every day and am getting impatient/excited. What a process this is.

I am seeing comments about the passport being requested. Is that the passport of the applicant? Do they always request the passport? Who long is the passport gone for?

55 calendar days. PPR is passport request of the applicant from visa office. The length of time waiting for PPr depends on visa office. So does the length of time from PPR to COPR (confirmation of PR- visa stamp in passport). Not all visa offices request passport. Some applicants from Ottawa visa office got their COPR with sending in passport. This can be common from non visa exempt countries.

Hi there,
Just added myself to the list. I am a Canadian sponsoring my American husband of 7 months. I am in Hamilton, ON and he lives near Detroit, MI so fortunately, the wait hasn't been terrible; though of course we want it to process quickly.

We paid all the fees in advance, got the medical done on 4/4/2014, completed the application in May, but didn't mail it until 6/16/2014 because we were missing some documents. It was received on the 17th, so given the current trend, there should be some action mid-August! I've been looking at timelines posted by others in a similar situation (US to Canada) and so far it looks like it's taking less than 7 months from start to finish, provided everything is filled out correctly and there are no additional requests. Hoping for the same.

definitely join the ottawa thread and get added to the spreadsheet there. you'll be able to track the "trends" of applications. the information is quite interesting to see!
