I quit my main job in the states as well (I still teach periodically when I go back as a guest speaker), gave up my apartment and have my visitor visa up here in Canada to be with my husband. It is hard, frustrating, and stressful to give up everything to step into a world of nothing. It gets quite boring here without being able to work especially since I was a busy bee back in NJ. On the bright side, I am learning to cook more dishes and improving on baking things from scratch! Can't say that is good for my waistline! lol Trust me, it wasn't a bad decision to have your hubby with you, everything looks greener on the other side, but not being together and not being able to see him knowing you are married, would probably be 10x harder. I'm trying to enjoy not working although hard when money becomes an issue. But...I'm reading a lot and going to the gym and trying to enjoy the things that will be harder to get done when I'm working!
We make the best of our situations, and we will all get through this! We all thought US applicants would go a bit quicker than they are. It can drive ya crazy when you know you sent everything required in the application and they keep asking for more and as taffy says, only god knows what they have misplaced. There are a bunch of us in the same boat so we are going through this together! I'm here to talk if ya need, and taffy is very knowledgeable to talk to!

Abrassain said:We haven't heard anything since our document request back in October. My husband sent an email asking about the status of our file and got the following response:
"Our office confirms that your application is being processed as per our regulatory timeline. Please note that we cannot confirm when your file will be ready for finalization. We do not require any information from you at the present time. An officer will contact you if further information is required. Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months as this could delay your application. We appreciate your patience and ask that you keep correspondence with our office to a minimum. In order to process requests efficiently, we will not be responding to duplicate requests."
Thanks, I guess.
I have been considering requesting case notes. Does anyone know if that has negative repercussions or anything? My husband has been staying with me in Canada since September as a visitor but it's hard since he can't work and doesn't have health insurance.
I feel bad for making him move here. I really thought he would get the COPR a lot sooner. Looks like making him quit his job in the States wasn't a wise decision at all.
