Just got my Sponsorship Approval Happy as when i called the call center yesterday was told not to expect anything untill Oct 19th 2012.

No it is not required..Nor it is been said anywhere in CIC website about the spouse name to be added in PP.
So dont worry ....Just send yr pp along with all the docs..

Received email dated 18th Sept 2012

Omg. The same here. When I called them and said my story that I resend my application , the agent told me that we have to wait around 2 or 3 months. But this morning we got our approval. ))) dated September 18!!!!!!!!! So happy for you and your approval and happy for ours approval as well

Smvi- did you check your ecas? Suddenly, I only see application recd dated 4 june..theres no Dm on sponsorship approval? I mean it was there before but not anymore?
