Hi everyone,

Sharing my timeline here for citizenship application:

Country of origin: Pakistan
AOR: 11th July, 24
Fingerprint request: 6th Sept, 24
Fingerprint submitted: 13th Sept, 24
Scheduled test: 13th Sept, 24
Test completed: 1st Oct, 24
Language and physical presence completed: 8th Oct, 24

Background and prohibitions still show in progress without any update on the tracker. It has been more than 8 months now for the application process, is that normal? I did fill out a form to have an update on the application to cic, an agent responded that the application is still is progress and the responsible office will review and respond.

I have followed this thread and it looks like many applications filed later have been completed until now. Has anyone experienced such delay?

Hi hssrp.
Good morning,
I want to explain my situation and need your expert advise, I was in Pakistan for about 3 weeks from 3rd Feb 2025 to 22nd Feb 2025 to visit my younger brother who was diagnosed with 4th Stage Cancer, I send a web form to IRCC before leaving Canada, and I informed IRCC about my situation, then I came back on same date (22nd Feb 2025) which I mentioned to IRCC before leaving Canada, Then i left again Canada on 7th March 2025 as my brother passes away. I again send a Web form to IRCC before leaving Canada explaining that I will be in Pakistan from 7th March 2025 to 20 March 2025.
Now I am back in Canada on 20th March 2025.
Do I need to inform IRCC that I am back?
also my Background Check is still in progress since 1st Dec 2024?
Is there anything you can advise to do from my end to know about my application?
Please help me in this matter.
Thanks.

Sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace and comfort. As for your inquiry, It doesn’t hurt to inform IRCC that you’re back in Canada just to cover all bases. At least you’ re keeping them up to date regarding your travel plans.

Hi folks,

turning to this forum for some advice as I have explored all avenues to get information from IRCC and all have been unfruitful (GCMS notes pending but doubt those will have an impact)

I applied with my wife and son: son on wife’s application, linked their application to mine. We got the test invite in September and cleared by end September.

On November 7, my status got updated to all items cleared with only citizenship oath pending. My wife got a fingerprint request which were submitted and received by IRCC on December 2, 2024. Since then her background check and prohibitions has been in progress.

What I find odd is why her background check is taking so long, as due to the nature of my job, I have had to her background check completed as well: not regular background check, detailed one where they ask whereabouts of parents, siblings, their employment, employment proofs and legal ids.

I tried calling but they said just said that they have all information required. I tried the web form as well. They say that I am still within the average processing time but they just keep on increasing the average time month on month so that statement is stale.

any information anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
