question: i am filling out the application for my wife...question 11 on the application asks for the employment and school record during her admissibility period...the problem is her admissibility period goes further back than when she came to Canada (came 2014, her admissibility starts in 2013)...
so
question 1: do i need to include information on what she was doing before she came to Canada?
question 2: during her admissibility period she traveled outside the country( country of origin), so do i need to include all those periods and exactly what she was doing there (i.e. unemployed)? then include period of unemployment here in canada right after she came back?

Yes, you will need to enter everything for the past 4 years (minimum as per the process document / checklist) OR from the time of admissibility (to be on the safe side, not recommended but some will want to do this - I have no argument)

Sharing my best practice - I sat down with my passports and my families passports and identified each stamp of entry and exit on the PP and entered these into Excel. A simple sort will arrange the entry column and exit (automatically) which you can then use to fill up the "From" and "To" fields for residence / travel time periods.

For any employment, I strongly suggest you use exact dates from offer / termination / resignation letters. I have seen a few people getting delayed due to wrong dates (if CIC called for verification and got different dates from past employers OR from your previous PR applications).

Being as honest and forthright as possible will allow faster processing for your application. Best of Luck.

I used the whole admissibility period just to be on the safe side.
I did the same for the entry dates, took the passport and used the stamped dates for each entry and exit so the dates are accurate.
as for employment/school, some of the dates are approximate as I am unable to have the accurate ones (variance of 4 or 5 days max).
I spoke to someone at IRCC yesterday and they recommended I write a letter to explain what was done during certain periods (work and school at same time for example) for better clarity and ease of understanding for the agent (which I did before as well).

And of course, honesty is the best thing in this case.

Another question from my side. Just curious to understand if any of you are getting multiple emails to participate in an IRCC survey? I am getting those even after I finished the survey. Another curious thing - they are sending my wife's survey to my email address too. Fun times.

hey, another question about question number 10 actually...
should she list all places she been to even if it's for 4 weeks for vacation??? cos it's only talking about "places you lived" then it talks about a period in another country of more than 183 days.... so which is it?? cos what if she traveled outside of canada and stayed at a hotel...

No, travel is not included here. This is just for places where they lived

Just as with the previous question, put 2016-01-01 to 2017-01-01 unemployed/Canada. The fact she went on vacation overseas during this unemployment period doesn't reflect here. Just make sure you put all vacation trips in the physical presence calculator.
