UPDATE- status changed to "Complete" on May 2nd, card mailed on May 2nd. Time line: AOR- Oct 22nd,2021 DM- Apr 29th,2022 Card mailed: May 2nd 2022 I am in Calgary, AB, I ll update when I receive it.

After waiting more than 6 months, I can see an update on my file, it shows DM. Does anyone knows, how long approximate take from DM to complete and card to be mailed???

Its better to apply from back home (India), US embassy from India, as its country of their residence. It ll hard to get US visit from Canada while your parents will be on visiting status in Canada too. If they are PR or working, then its different story

You need to have a valid PR card or PRTD to enter back to Canada. From India the airline will not allow to board without these documents. You might need to change your travel date for Canada, depending on how long they ll take to issue you PRTD

I believe its depends how busy is visa center where are applying from and the complexity of your application. I got in 2 weeks from Pakistan. It was my 2nd trip out of Canada in last 5 years

Brady, there will be no problem flying out of Canada with an expired PR card, but you ll need a valid PR card or PRTD to enter back in Canada

PR card is usually 2-3 months, may be early if you are lucky. Q 1, I dont know much about it, some more knownelgable person will answer it soon

The day when you become permanent resident, your existing visa (student, visit, work) become void on the same day, not valid anymore. if you travel with an expire PR card, you ll need PRTD to return back to Canada or you can enter by road from USA. Your existing visitor visa will NOT work anymore
