I just want to come home with my husband :(
I've been in the States 3 years now and I hate going home without him. Graduated college in the states and am beyond ready to return home and get working... Only CIC being stupid has prohibited that.
Being in the states I can't even call CIC to see where our application is at and why we haven't heard anything.

Sorry to hear that Ashely Anne! I understand your frustration cause I am in the same boat too. I have been in a LDR with my husband through out our entire relationship (From Bf-Gf to Husband-Wife). I went to school in the US and now im ready to move to Canada and be with him. But CIC is taking their sweet time and not even responding to questions adequately. Do you have a number to call them? Here is the number I use 1888 242 2100. They did not give me much information. But atleast I know my documents are in Ottawa.

Good luck to you

CIC will not notify you when it's been received. also, recent applicants have noted that CIC does not send AORs (acknowledgement of receipt) anymore. It appears the first communication from CIC will be the sponsorship approval, so you are in for some wait.

Hi,

Is there a reason why CIC doesnot sent AORs any more after the sponsorship approval?

for the sponsor, AOR comes BEFORE sponsor approval. since i don't process files or work for immigration, i have no idea why they send AORs to some, and not others.

if you're referring to AOR2 (meaning an AOR sent to the applicant from the visa office), most visa offices don't send AOR, only a select do. i don't know the list of offices that do. for that information, you will want to check the thread specific to your visa office.

Everyone should just start requesting their gcms notes. Maybe it will poke them enough that they'll will start moving again. I also asked for info from cic-ottawa 5 times before they replied. They said something like "we are processing your application to our scheduled processing times. We require no further information at this time. Please do not send more than one email as this will not help you receive a reply. We will not answer any more of your emails"

I wanted to reply and say "maybe you SHOULD answer the first email if you don't want additional emails..." We emailed every month after they were supposed to get back to us. It took about 4 months overall to get our reply. Don't know what they expect people to do when they are in the dark and given no information about a life altering / most important event in their life...

Ashleyanne, did you receive your notes today?

everyone requesting notes couldn't hurt, but the only way to get them moving is through fear, like bad press.... like people contacting the media
or everyone organizing a protest day at the Canadian embassy in manila. 1000 people showing up @ the Canadian embassy in manila would get noticed in a huge way

If everyone requests notes it might have the opposite effect! Won't it just slow everything down?

the people who process the notes are not the same people who process immigration files.

Aww don't beat yourself up i sent for my husbands notes and he signed the wrong date on the consent form ,two weeks ahead of the day i requested them. So i have no idea now when i will receive them.

That is interesting haha
I wonder how he even did that...
Fingers crossed for you.
I just wish their website was simpler to understand.
BLEH.

We are talking about settling long term in the states at this rate... giving it another 30 days and giving up. :( We can't have our lives on hold forever, and since we can't MOVE to canada together, we will MOVE to USA together for a year or someting. this inbetween is only possible for so long. Not that CIC gives a rats ass.
