IN PROCESS!!!!! Our file went to Application Received on March 3, 2014 and sometime between last Thursday night and today (early Saturday morning) it changed to In Process March 3, 2015 (last Tuesday). There is life at the Ottawa CPC!

They asked for additional material last June and some of that we couldn't get them till late November, but it's been sitting at AR ever since.

Hi. I have received the following email from London office:

Please advise your sponsor to pay this fee in Canada ($490 Cdn). This payment cannot be accepted in the UK. It must be paid in Canada in accordance with the instructions in the sponsorship kit. The receipt should be sent to CPC-Mississauga.

Can you tell how much time it takes for PPR after i submit the receipt for RPRF?

It's hard to know. We submitted our RPRF in the third week of November after it was asked for. Our file changed from "application received" to "in process" on March 3. We haven't heard anything after that. It seems like a lot of U.S. applicants change from "in process" to "decision made" in about 2-3 weeks, but every case is different and every office is different.

Haven't been here in a while - looks like most folks are through or on there way? My application still says "application received" though our MP's office is making calls about every three months to check on our application and they say the timeline is about 19 months total, so about 6 more months. My son and I moved to Zambia in October 2014 and last week my husband and I were attacked in our car by thieves and I was assaulted. I was wondering whether they would consider this issue of the safety - should I even bother informing them or our lawyer or MP?

Unfortunately, I doubt that the attack will make a difference, unless you can prove that you are some kind of refugee, and I don't think you are, from what information you just gave. The attack is very unfortunate, but I don't think that reporting it would make a difference.

Success! Here's the update on our application:

Our file went to "Decision Made" March 30. The CoPR was dated April 1, the cover letter was dated April 2, we were away all of this week. It was postage metered with an April 7 date and it was waiting in our mailbox in Gatineau when we got back home last night, the evening of April 10. We will be going to the border Saturday night (tonight) for the "landing" procedure.

I'll be writing a summary soon of why our application took so long. It was mostly our fault.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, their likely response would be that I choose to wait it out here and that I have a choice to return. As such, I should be returning to Canada in about four months; would return sooner but I'm teaching here so I'll need to finish the semester, plus my Canadian passport was stolen in the attack. Still very optimistic - I think we can do the last leg of this race apart.

We received your application for permanent residence on January 14, 2014.
We started processing your application on July 3, 2015.
Medical results have been received.
Applied Outland US, processing at CPC-Ottawa.

Just received a started processing on July 3rd and was wondering if people on here thought that was a good sign. I have noticed DM from people ranging anywhere from a few days to several months after status switches to "in process."

In October I was asked to provide information on if I could support myself as my wife is on ODSP/disability (Canadian citizen) and so I sent in my last 5 years of employment paperwork. I'm guessing this is why it has taken so much longer for my application.

I know it's just a waiting game but I'd love to hear if that's a good sign that the application will likely go through or just a status update.

It's a good sign. When Ottawa changes to that status, it means they are actually processing it. They usually don't change to that status until they have everything they need, so they'll probably make a decision very soon if there are no further complications. It's likely that you'll hear something within one to two weeks, though of course it can be longer in a few cases.

Thanks! I think from reading other people's posts that it's definitely around that timeline. It hasn't stopped me from being anxious AND checking the status multiple times a day though :p

Once it is marked processing everything goes fast at least from what I've seen. My question is why would they ask you for so much proof and not us, I'm also on disability and sponsored my husband. We explained our situation but never had to show proof of it. I guess it's just luck of the draw, or past history or something? It sure seems to be inconsistent from what I've read.
Another thing is some people aren't getting that condition 51 on their COPR's even though they've been married less than a year. We've been together 9 years and married 2 but got that condition (not that it makes any difference, I'm really just curious about how things work).

That is odd. As far as I was aware, everyone married less than 2 yrs got condition 51. My guess is some officers are making serious errors on files again/ still. Once these new laws ( c-24, etc.) go into affect we'll see how things work. Right now they aren't working very well.

Yeah, it really does seem like luck of the draw. I understand completely why they don't want to bring in people that might be a strain on the system. I did extensive research and asked all over everywhere about disability stuff and what one had to prove. I was shocked and a bit frustrated when I received the email about showing my financials in October. I was already 9 months into the wait at that point (and I submitted and paid everything as early as possible). It seems it is most commonly asked for in cases where red flags have come up. But I did everything I could to put all the employment records I had for the last 5 years (that took 6-7 weeks). It's taken them another 10 months now.

I just wonder if it comes down to the officer and their interpretation of red flags. I was a student part of the time I was up here. My wife is on ODSP/disability. We're young-ish (late 20s, early 30s) but we also got married 4 and a half years ago and have dated for 6 years. My wife's health goes up and down a bit and has been a cause of periods of time when I haven't been able to work full time but we also live on a fairly small budget which is fine. I'm well-educated (through the Canadian education system, BSc. in Neuroscience and a graduate certificate in Environmental Sustainable Systems) and have worked a variety of jobs including running a family business and being an assistant manager in a retail store, here in Canada.

Same with the condition 51 rule. That just seems odd in your case, Aquakitty, that that would apply at all. I'm pretty confident that we could win an appeal if it came to that (over financials/ability to support myself), but I just don't want that extra hassle. Time is now at a stand still and this needs to resolve itself in order to make any decisions about the future.
