If you are in Canada you can request the notes under the Access to Information Act, rather than the Privacy Act. Access to Information Act costs $5 and the Privacy Act is free.

The sponsor (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) is the one who requests the notes, on behalf of the applicant. The applicant must provide a consent form to the sponsor and that file is sent with the request.

Thanks guys, think i'll just wait and see.....sent off additional information and medical cert today by email, fax and mail. They should get at least one of them!

Well....we did the flagpole thing at the Lewiston Border crossing near Niagara today. I made a little mistake at first. We drove past the Canada border guard drive through and turned around and drove towards the CBSA gate thinking we would just get pulled in to the office for the PR process to be completed. Spoke to the Canada border agent and she said they do not allow people to just flagpole, we would have to physically enter the states and then come back in (my mistake)...she said we should go for lunch or shopping or something. She was actually quite nice, but not very keen on flag poling. So being that we didn't wanna screw anything up, we went towards the U.S.A side and got to their drive through gate, the two guys (one in training) asked what was our reason for visiting and we told him we didn't want to enter the states but just wanted to complete my wifes landing at the Canadian border office. He said why don't you just flagpole and I told him that we weren't allowed and that we were told that we needed to physically enter the states. He said that all he has to do is give us a piece of paper and we should turn around and drive through Canada border gate again...so we did. Once we got the paper from them we went through the Canada gate again (different gate than the first time...on purpose) and we handed the agent the paper and she said to go to the office and talk to immigration. Once inside (it was completely quiet in there) we handed my wifes PR papers in and within 1/2 hour we were complete and my wife is now a PERMANENT RESIDENT OF CANADA!!!

Why would you apply through access to information act? Do you get different results?
You can get either one from anywhere as long as you have a computer lol
I used my Canadian mailing address. (My parents place)

Hi Scotmoose
I am June applicant, still waiting for LVO to contact me. I decided to email them a month ago and the reply I received was my file is waiting to be reviewed by the processing officer

Note: If you are submitting a request under the Privacy Act for information belonging to someone else, the individual to whom the information belongs must also be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or currently living in Canada
- So you can only apply under the Privacy Act if the applicant is in Canada.

And

Personal information which belongs to an individual who is not a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or currently living in Canada must be requested under the Access to Information Act.

Really? Because I didn't read that anywhere on the site when I was applying, so I applied privacy act. What I understood was the access act was just a lot more information available... But I just wanted info on our app. But I didn't read anywhere that the info had to be about a canadian, ONLY a Canadian can apply to GET the information.

I applied for my notes, under the Access to Information act, I am within Canada and the principal applicant. I paid $5. I just got my notes today, 1 day short of the 30 day service standard. Somewhat reassuring that they have actually looked at my file and state that they don't need further information regarding our relationship. Just waiting on security checks by the looks of it. Slightly cheered me up after the shock of the jump in processing times.

From looking at the other forums, December applicants are getting SA quite quickly right now. I'm assuming this is why we are all stuck waiting. I would love to know when they stop making us wait and get back to our application :(

SA is given from Mississauga, PPR is given through Ottawa in your case as well mine. You are waiting for an entirely different reason then SA. It looks like June of 2014 was the last time anyone received PPR. Hang tight, we'll all get there :)

Hopefully they'll get to our applications soon. I'm checking ECAS about 5 times a day hoping for a change from application received.

The way i'm looking at it right now is we both are due for some good news . One of my friends who applied from London in May just got in process .. Our turn soon Scotmoose :)

Hopefully we should hear something soon, but at the moment it feels like it will never come. Think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts!

I think we are all just feeling defeated and tired of waiting. I know I just want this over! I wish I knew what was holding everything up. I HAVE to go home in April, which means I can't be with my husband :( We really thought we would land before that.
