We applied outland and we live together abroad. The other July applicant I know who has also gotten the COPR already was living in Canada during the process with his spouse and applied outland. Once you pass stage 1 it is no longer in the hands of Canada but the foreign visa office that is handling your outland case to prioritize who gets approved at which time. From experience reading other cases on this broad, I don't think CIC Canada or the foreign visa offices prioritize by those living apart or together during the process. It's based upon the time you applied, the complexity of your case, the proof you provide, and how you completed and organized your package. I have heard the only priority cases are those for which a parent is sponsoring a child, they are always processed as soon as they arrive at the office.

Thank you for your input.. Have you ever thought of getting a career with CIC or as an immigration consultant ? Times have changed a lot since my parents brought me to Canada in 1973. All because of the 1997 take over of HK... I often wonder what life would be like if I was still there :) Take care and enjoy time with your loved ones in Canada :)

True for most of world, except outland U.S. cases, which go to Ottawa for stage 2 (at least until PPR).

Awesome Shayeste! Which VO are you going through, and when did you receive sponsor approval? I will add you to the speeadsheet :)

Thanks :)
My VO is Ankara. I received my sponsor approval on August 23, and my "In Process" status on November 22.

you probably will! :-) Sydney is one of the fastest office and normally quite efficient, so if you have a "straightforward" case, and proofs of your relationship, you should be landed by springtime!
Sweden

:D Happy Sunday everyone ;D Congratulations to everyone progressing along in their process.Welcome to the newcomers for July. Wishing everyone a breezy, speedy process. I am still waiting for stage 2 AOR. Hopefully soon to add to the spreadsheet. :D ;D ;) 8)

Thanks Shayeste - I have updated your details on the spreadsheet :)

Thanks Sweden! I think my heart just sank a little when the processing time went up another month for the Sydney VO - still I shouldn't complain, it's still quite low (9 months) compared to other VOs.

It's Monday over here so happy Monday from my neck of the woods- (Thanks Double Rainbow) :)

Please Help..

I received this email from the Rome Embassy today.

A document request letter was sent on 19 November by email.

Visa Section / Section des Visas

Canadian Embassy / Ambassade du Canada

Via Zara, 30

00198 Rome

e-mail: romevisa@international.gc.ca

internet site: www.italy.gc.ca

I originally sent them an email on Nov 17 informing them of my partner's new cell phone number and the recent death of his father. We never received an email from Rome dated Nov 19 requesting a document. Is it possible this is the PPR or a request for a death certificate or something else. My mind is going crazy not knowing.

Can someone fill me in on how they send a PPR to the applicant ?

Thanks so much, Brenda

Thanks bagelbagel81 :) :)

hi Brenda,
Argh, that must be so frustrating. If you sent the documets via email it is quite possible they could have requested further documents in relation to that. i would send an urgent case specific inquiry, including the original information in the correspondence that they sent you.
PPR as far as I am aware depends on the VO.
They can be sent via email or mail.
I wouldn't think they would request a death certificate, as it dosen't appear to be essential to the PR application, so hopefully it's your PPR!
Good luck getting through.

Rome replied fast and it was for more criminal records checks again. We did Italy and Albania but they were not translated to English but they also want Saint Vincent and the Grenadines where my partner worked for a year. This might be impossible cos when I called the police there they said you have to submit finger prints for international requests. Also, proof of assets which I have sent money to buy a car which is not registered to me but understandable. Proof of my visits after our marriage... This is where I laugh a bit cos we applied as conjugal partners :) I have been told this is a tough way to apply but I am happy they did not ask for anything more.

Do you have any idea why we would need more criminal record checks when was is valid from June and the second one in August. The problem is, my partner has to go to Italy just to do this. Do you know if you can get one while you are outside the country. I have been stressed but I am happy they replied. Finally, the original email was sent to my partner's advocate he used to apply for his TRV which was denied. She is not even connected to this office. They have made some errors which makes me wonder..

Thanks.. my little Bagel :)
