My Background check changed to "In Progress" today on MyCIC!

I'm Feb 2017 outland applicant. I come here to ask because nobody in my group knows the answer. I hope someone here can help me with my question:

US police certificate takes about 12 to 14 weeks (I'm not a US citizen or PR so unable to use channeler service). I applied for it in mid December 2016 and still waiting for it. I'm worried that it will not be ready when I receive my AOR1. Is it possible to request more time to upload documents?

Thanks a lot

Have they requested it yet? I provided mine up-front but usually what happens is they give you a certain date to upload the documents by. I'm assuming they realize it can take time to get a police certificate so I'm sure they'll give you enough time. When you get the letter it has the date you must upload the documents by, do you have this date? My police certificate took right around 2-2.5 months to be exact. You can call the FBI and inquire on the status. Best of luck!

OMG.. try calling sharp 8pm EST and keep your fee receipt handy .. they can check with that and let you know.. if they ever opened your file. I can understand whats going thru u. I hope you get your file number soon..

Finally, I got my call through when I call at 8am EST. That lady was very nice and helpful, I was so scared that I will not get help because I'm not in Canada (for posts I've read from this forum). She asked for my UCI or application #, which I don't have any of them. Then she asked for my first name, last name, date of birth, and place of birth, and she successfully found my file in the system but there's no application linked to it. My payment receipt is still open, unmatched to any application. She said, if I have an incomplete application package and it was being returned, it will still show in the system, but this is not the case. Therefore, she took more information from me, my email address, the courier provider, tracking number, person received, and when I mailed the application, etc.....and she will forward an investigation request to the case processing center to find this package. Hopefully, I will hear something soon.

At least they found your application! If they have not entered your receipt # that means that they have not opened your file. When I called them, they told me the same thing. Two days later, I was able to link my application. Maybe now that they are alerted to look for your application, your app might be opened/processed faster.

Hope you hear positive news soon!

They did not find my application, they just looked up my information in their system (which still has my address and phone number 20+ years ago). The lady even gave me my UCI number. But I'm sure they will "look for" my application after this, and yes, hope to hear anything positive soon! I will try to check online everyday.

Have they requested any documents? Mine was received on 31 i was able to link on 22feb but no AOR or documents requested since.

When I logged in the Schedule A request was already there. No police check request, but I sent mine in upfront - we'll see if they request it in the future.

Today we got AOR1 and are now able to check status on ECAS for both sponsor and PA.

Generally it seems that when they ask you for information, they also ask you to tell them if you cannot provide it. The advice I've seen around the forum is to send a message indicating that you are gathering the documents but will not meet the deadline - that way they will know you are working on the issue, not just ignoring the request.

Thanks!

Someone messed up the spreadsheat again. Anyone know how to fix it?

Done.

Got my application that was sent back shortly after phoning CIC and them having trouble finding it.

Apparently I used my (sponsor) address in the generic application form instead of my wife's (applicant) so they want IMM5476 use of representative form filled out which was never stated in the guide...

Will send back ASAP to see what happens.
