You are updated.

Google signed me out. I had a fit there for a moment.

I'm also American staying in Canada. I get this all the time: "What do you mean you can't work? You're married to a Canadian!" ::)

I have a phone interview this week with a Canadian company (that I absolutely love). I'm hoping they will hire me on a temporary work visa. ;D

Oh you're so lucky. You must have special skills. My ability to boss people around and clean/organize apparently isn't very special :(

Well, on the plus side, I got my university webcam today so I can start taking my tests - I tested out of 4 classes (3 management, 1 math. Yeah, I've been working in management for a while now.... easy.... plus math is genetic :P)

I also got a dry erase board (grocery list) and coffee mug (hahahah!).

I hope your AOR will be out this week amikety :) it looks like January 2013 applicants are getting their AORs really fast. I hope it will be the same for us, February 2013. :D

Edit: you actually got your AOR already :D I hope SA will be coming sooner then

Haha, thanks :) I have a theory CIC jumped into the New Year after a nice holiday, ready to work hard. Then about 10 days in, they got tired again and went back to being slow.

I also have a theory they only work Thursdays.

Very nice that you came up with your own theory. I do hope tho that we can debunk that with fast SAs this coming weeks/months. CIC, please be good to us. LOL

Well I've been applying for jobs since we got married this summer and this is my first call back. I know people who work at the company so I think that's why I got a call. It seems companies want Canadian experience but how do you get it if you can't work there? Double edged sword.

Are you going back to school or are you taking certifications to be able to work there?

I'm getting my bachelor's degree. It's online, through the USA. I transferred in 9 classes. Passed two already (written finals). I've scheduled two more exams and will schedule another as soon as I get my first two dates finalized. Have two assignments out for grading in yet another class, working on the third. I'm aiming to get 5 classes done this month.

I used to work for a company that has locations in the USA and Canada. When I got offered one of the jobs (that turned me down when I asked for the LMO - I LISTED ON MY APPLICATION!!!! Learn to read!) I don't think they even noticed my former job was outside Canada.

I want my degree in healthcare, so my plan (a real plan, not the crazy type) is to get my degree through the USA (I get the Pell Grant) and then get my speciality in Canada. Especially since healthcare is different, plus I'll need classes on legal issues, laws, etc. I know FMLA - don't think that would help me in Canada. ;)

Got our AOR guys! :D

Congrats, hopefully they will keep up with this awesome speed!

Congrats all of you guys -

I am actually not a Jan applicant, i am currently getting all the documents ready.

Couple of questions and would really appreciate that you guys can help me out

1. when i send the documents to prove my relationship (like letters, joint bank account information, tax receipts), do i send photocopies or the original documents ?

2. lets say if i submit the application on March 1st, 2013, and for example if the visa office approves on Dec 1st, 2013, does my wife need to come IMMEDIATELY OR March 1st, 2014 is the deadline for her to come? Can she come in April instead ? (her parents 65 years old birthday is in april)

i read from other topics looks like she needs to come BEFORE her medical exam expiration date (which means 1 year, ), is that true ?
what if the application itself took longer than 1 year to proceed ?

Thanks a lot for helping me out and good luck to everyone:)

Hi there

Good luck with the application! I was stupid enough not to take copies, so make sure u won't make the same mistake :D

I remember reading about that and I'm quite sure there's at least a 3 month period when she can come into Canada, u might wanna double check that tho..

Medicals expire after 12 months, if her application hasn't been processed within that 12 month period they will ask her to re do her medicals :)
