Hi .. I have a question regarding a visitor visa application from outside Canada (my nationality is Yemei but i live in Saudi Arabia). Can a friend in Canada write an invitation letter for me even though there is no blood relationship between me and the friend in Canada?

Yes. Your friend can send you an invitation letter. He needs to mention that you will be staying with him and he will take care of all your expenses during the stay. And also needs to show he has a good job that he would be able to take care of yours and has enough accommodation.

but my father will take the responsibility of my travel and all expenses. i will just stay in her house the visit.

Then your father needs to show good amount of money and needs to write a support letter. Make sure your trip in not more then 3 weeks in the application.

you mean i should make it "less than 6 month visitor visa" and mention this in the letter?
my father doesn't have a big chunk of money in his bank account, but his has two active bank account for his work with small money transfers (1,400 CAD monthly). His salary is 8,866 CAD per month
is that enough??

Yes less then six months when you apply but mention that you are visiting Canada for only 3 weeks not more then that.

For funds, I would suggest you to get joint account with your father. I did the same for my brother as he was not working so my mom added his name to her bank account and he got the visa.

But you need to have atleast 6 to 8000 in account and that would be enough for 21 days stay

Think you will find getting a visa more challenging than others have indicated. Given you are from Yemen there is a high risk of you claiming asylum. Not clear if you are working and what form of resident permit you have in Saudi but since you don't have permanent residence in Saudi so not very strong ties. You need to show you can pay for your trip not your host. In this case your father is supporting the visit not you. You are visiting friends and not family so the purpose of the visit is not as strong. Not sure if you have travelled to other countries like UK, US, etc. but that would be helpful. Just warning you that your application has a high likelihood of being refused.

The friend's ability to support the OP's visit is secondary. He does not *need* to prove anything except provide an invitation letter.

How long has the OP known this friend? Is their relationship more than just simple friendship? Why would the OP want to come to Canada to visit this friend and not other friends in other countries? These are the questions that the visa office would be interested in knowing

I agree with canuck78, given you hold a Yemen passport + you intend to visit a friend + you are dependent on your dad to pay for your visit although you are employed (but in another post you stated you are unemployed).... your application has high chances of being refused. When does your immigration status in Saudi expire?

Your dad's salary is not good enough to pay for your visit. It's like why would he pay for you to holiday abroad when he has a large family to take care of on a small income?

Your previous visits to Canada could help to some extent depending on how long you visited + under what circumstances/what purpose.

I would wait until you have stronger ties to at least KSA (given you cannot establish ties to Yemen) before you attempt a TRV

i do have permanent residence in Saudi Arabia (also all my family including my daughter). it will expire after 5 years. currently, i depend on my father because i just graduated last month. i already passed an interview for a job, and we will discuss more about salary and job description then i can sign the contract for work.
i visited canada before for same purpose and i stayed literally only 3 weeks

I'm planning to apply visiting visa for my friend living in the USA.
-He is on F-1 status and not working. How can he show his financial support?
-Is it compulsory to write dates in the invitation letter?
-What is meant by travel history?
-Any sample for an invitation letter.

- shows his bank accounts and own proof that friend can afford to visit.
- No dates aren’t necessary but provide some plan/itinerary.
- Travel history is to countries like US, UK, NZ and US.
- If not a citizen of US but living there, friend needs to show ties to home country (job, property, investments etc.).
- Use the search function as there are many sample letters on this site.
