it applies to you too, you will not get job unless you have Canadian experience , i have seen lot of people like you immigrating to canada with degrees and experience and working as security guards and uber drivers. and have seen most of international students doing high profile jobs but due the fact of not getting immigration they have to leave their jobs, houses and their success and start again from the beginning that is what i call not fair for those highly talented students
That's not true. You can get a job even without so-called "Canadian experience". Sure, it may take a bit longer. Most of my immigrant friends got a proper job in few month.

Anyway, could you please explain why these international students with high profile jobs do not qualify for immigration? 3 year PGWP is more than enough to gain necessary experience.

Hopefully you will get ITA before your PGWP expires. In the mean time gather all the documents for your application. Remember, you can use your first AOR to apply for BOWP.

I'd like to ask a very similar question, I appeared in Ielts back in june 2015 and earned 7.5 bands in total (L-7.5, W-6.5, Sp-8, R-8). Not sure if I'd be able to score more than this in IELTS. You guys think it's a good idea to give CELPIP a shot since I heard a lot it's relatively easier to score more in Celpip.

I found CELPIP to be slightly easier than IELTS, for what it's worth.

Not at all. If you choose to get a worthless degree, you are welcome to. When there is a petroleum crash (for example), it can be hard to get a petroleum job in Canada. Fortunately, as an international student, you promise to leave Canada when your studies are over, and can even be denied a study permit if they feel you won't be willing to. It doesn't matter if you can get a Canadian job, since as an international student, you were never promised one. You paid for an education, and you got one.

There may be petroleum jobs in your home country, which might make it worth doing. There may not. If your degree won't be useful to you, that's not their problem - it's yours.
what is a worthless degree/education? who decides that? why is there no points for worthwhile degrees in express entry all masters are the same? yes it was not promised by canada to get a job as well as immigration but they had created CEC as a lure they want the 3 time the fees that international students pay but they want to ignore them in express entry. It seems like selective amnesia. look at the colleges advertising and paying money to agent to bring in international students. All the false promises that these agents make. if they want a a fair competitive environment then reduce study permits and not give out study permits to any tom dick or harry and expect to keep only the finest. Thats just morally wrong

Not really. The liberals care far more about family class and refugees, and they are cutting the number of economic immigrants. They are also looking to give additional points to people with family in Canada who don't qualify for direct sponsorship.

All of that is going to translate to higher scores and less opportunities for economic immigrants. Harper was the one who cared about economic immigration (including EE), and he streamlined the process, dropped the wait times by years, and made a system that was fairly transparent and straightforward. Get the points (which stabilized around 450), and you're in. The scoring system is public, and based on the things that contribute to economic success.

The liberals want it to go to those who win the "messed up country" lottery, and those with existing connections to Canada. That's going to make things harder, and the "change" you get may very well not be the "change" you want.

There is no stand for international students to take - there is a huge list of people who want to be international students, whether or not they might get extra points towards Permanent Residency.
harper screwed up the process and liberals is even screwing more with the process. the balance is going to be lost. I agree international students r not a priority for liberals seems like. things r going to be much harder

Harper just closed a backdoor. Studies in Canada is not a way to immigrate.

When you come to Canada as a PR, you can have the luxury of finding " good jobs" matching your education and experience as you are free from all the stresses related with limited work permit duration, limited credit availability, high student debts to name a few. You can wait 4 to 6 months to find desired job but many international students doesn't have such previleges. So don't compare the two.

It would be better if they start a separate category for international students. They can limit the number of PR visas to international students, but atleast students wont have to compete for the same spots with people having incomparable foreign experiences.

Even a separate stream won't help those who can't get enough points through EE.

If it'll be "first come first serve" stream (unlikely btw), backlog will grow above one year in no time. With "best score goes first" most college students and some bachelor won't ever reach passing mark. So those with bachelor or masters and enough experience will pass, others (especially those with college diploma) - won't.

it would be best if they reopen CEC with older rules...as it was in 2014 before the launch of express entry...

The problem is that everyone 1 year of canadian experience eligible was eligible. It creates enormous backlog. Friend of mine applied back in 2014, got PR only in 2016.
