Dear friends,
Please my friend's son just went for Medical Exams they said his results are all negative except the fact that he has a first stage of Syphilis which can take some days or weeks before treated. He is still a minor. He is asking if this will slow down his immigration process. He was asked to bring his passport and medical result and was given a limited time to provide them. He is confused and which to ask if he can continue to send the passport for his PR.
Thanks

His application will be slowed down, CIC will most likely want him to undergo treatment and provide a new set of lab results that show he's cured.

Thanks Romania85. He did the second test on syphilis again, but it was positive after all the treatment was done and followed up by the Panel Physician. Documents sent to cic and presently his online status is written as" Medical result received". Is there hope about this? Like i said he had never known a woman in his life. This medical was the last document requested by cic.

Hi friends,
Please some on should help me. If the online status shows " Medical result received" is the hope for positive result?. This person was diagnosed with syphilis but had done every treatment requested through the panel physician and sent to immigration though he had never slept with a girl in his life. Now the status has been updated to " Medical result received" Is there hope for his PR to be issued?. Please help me cool down the stress.
Thanks

[to view the details of the medical, you can order the notes on his file. The update you are seeing just shows where cic is in receipt of the medical report. Try going to another lab, or speak with a physician about this.]

Your friend will have to request the Medical notes, not just the case notes. This can be requested through ATIP or PA.

The problem is that this may be deemed a public safety matter. Family Class Medical results can be exempted for excessive demand, but not for public safety concerns. So, your friend might want to see a new doctor to get some help clearing that up.

Thanks very much.
He did the second test after treatment it was positive but the doctor made him to understand that he is ok its just the scar but he is free. The documents for the 3 weeks treatment and 3 weeks wait time were stamped and sent by doctor to cic.

If he is clear of it, then there is no problem.

Yeah.... your 'stress' is coming from a refusal to acknowledge something.

Syphilis is contracted in one of three ways: Sexual contact (most common), shared needles (middle commonality), from an infected mother during pregnancy (least common). If he's just been diagnosed with stage 1, he didn't get it while he was still inside his mother. Which means it's the first or second.

There are four possibilities: (1) He has slept with an infected woman. (2) He has slept with an infected man. (3) He has shared an infected needle. (4) He was misdiagnosed.

Given that the panel physicians are approved by CIC, so presumably have fairly high standards, (4) is relatively unlikely (but, certainly possible). You've repeatedly insisted 'He's never slept with a girl ... he's never known a woman'. If he's infected, then he has slept with someone else who was infected, or shared a needle with someone else who was infected (of either gender, in either case). If he isn't, then a physician is probably at risk of losing their panel status.

My point is: There's no point in insisting over and over your belief about his sexual history when, frankly, what you're denying is probably the best-case scenario (from your perspective).

He keeps on crying every that this may cause him loose his chance of re-uniting with his family.

CIC does not care about whether someone has or has not had sex. If he has syphilis, the only thing to do is to get it treated. Syphilis can be cured. Once he is cured, it will not affect his ability to be sponsored to Canada.
If syphilis is found during the medical exam, the panel physician will note this and recommend treatment. Then CIC will want a second test to show it has been cured. Once it is cured, he will be able to pass the medical, and can be accepted as a sponsored dependent.

It may slow down processing, as getting treatment and proof he is cured will take a while, but there is no alternative. He certainly does not want to just ignore it - untreated syphilis is dangerous.
