Your file probably did get forgotten, placed on some desk somewhere, or someone fat sat on it, or put a box of donuts on it.Hortie said:Hi all, got AOR December 2014 and SA May 7 2016 and nothing else. I see that the waiting period is 26 months so what does one do? If we call CIC they would just tell us that although 90% of the people ahead and many behind have AIP or PR we should just be patient and wait another nine months before we ask but, when we applied it was 18 so wondering.....
should we complain because everybody but us got lucky or trust that after another nine months we can pipe up and ask them if they forgot about me?
Either way, there's nothing you can do. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, especially if instead of a horse it's just a cart full of manure.
Even if you're past the deadline the call center typically just tells you that everyone is in the same boat and you just have to wait.
Some morons will actually tell you that they're *working* on your AIP, and that because it's within processing time that it's fine. But they're not working on it, we both know that.
Here's what you can do:
1. Order your notes immediately, it takes forever to get, so you might as well order now. That way you can tell if something was sent to you that got lost in the mail.
2. Call the center repeatedly, keep telling them (falsely) that you submitted some time before the current processing date until they agree to look up your file. At that point they'll know you're lying, but if you're lucky they'll still look into your file. What you're looking for is an unfinished or unsent letter prepared by someone at CIC that they forgot to send out. *IF* that document is more than 40 days old, the agent will be able to put a note on your file alerting the processing stooge to send the letter they started. After 40 days that note finally reaches the processing stooge and they may or may not send you your AIP.
3. Just wait till you get DM. It'll probably be soon. Hopefully.
Just a disclaimer, the current processing time at the time you submitted is completely meaningless.
Ask anyone who submitted in 2014 when the 1st stage processing time more than doubled.
I was in the same situation as you back when I was supposed to get AIP, the website hadn't been updated in a month, I had waited my 18 or 19 months, but I had to trick the call center into looking up my file because the "processing date" was some day 20 months ago.
When they opened it they found that my AIP was started, but in the middle of drafting it the processing stooge got tired and fell asleep, then forgot to finish or send it. The agent wasn't able to put a note on my file, because the letter wasn't 40 days old yet, so I just had to wait it out.
We got DM right away, but it took a while to arrive (in the mail) so we didn't know at the time.
We never ended up getting AIP, I assume you probably won't either, but DM should be on the way so there's that to look forward too.
You'll just have to keep your life on hold a bit longer.
Sorry for your luck. I sympathize with you. I'll add your frustration to mine.
