December 11, 2015 – Foreign nationals in Canada applying to immigrate as a spouse or common-law partner will continue to have the opportunity to work while waiting for their application to be finalized.
A pilot program giving them open work permits is being extended for one year, until December 22, 2016.

That is great to hear! :D

I'm a bit confused.

1. I HAVE to apply for a work permit to keep my implied status after submitting my PR? Why? I thought we got implied status anyways for Inland.

2. If my boyfriend and I are going to be common law by the time they finish processing the first round of paperwork, should we go ahead and apply as common law or conjugal?

3. Should we wait until we can declare common law to submit a PR application?

1. You should apply for OWP with your PR app - it gives you implied status.

2. You will be applying as common-law. Few people apply as conjugal as it's so difficult to provide evidence.

3. Yes. Otherwise you are not common-law when you submit so you will be denied.

So when I go back up, if I don't get stamped I'll have an implied 6 month status. Halfway through I'm planning on submitting for a 6 month extension so we can be common law. Do I put that on my extension request? I read here somewhere that I should, since I'm extending to get common law status and, now, file my PR papers.

I think you can put that on your extension application. (More exp member will know more than me)
However, you wouldn't file your PR application until you are common law, living together for 12 months.

You will get "implied status" until CIC makes a decision on your OWP application. Not 90 days. If your application got returned after dec 17, then you become "out of status". If and once that happens, then you have 90 days to apply for status of restoration. That is where the 90 days come from.

I always wanted to know, when someone apply for status restoration, and when it gets approved, how long do they have on that approved status? Would there be expiration date on that?

I believe it will be a visitor status once your status is restored, thus 6 months max.

I had my girlfriend apply for a visitors visa, and she got approved.

Now I will be going to my home country ( India) to get marry on social customs and planning on bringing her here using the visitors visa she obtained months earlier.

So once she lands in Canada, i will marry her in canada to get marriage certificate .

I am planning on applying for inland sponsorship.

What is advisable to apply for her PR application ? Inland or Outland ?

Is this an OK thing to do? Any response would be appreciated.

The OWP will have note on it "does not allow re-entry" on it.

You can go on holidays, nobody is stopping you from leaving. It's the ability to get back into Canada. OWP does not guarantee your re-entry into Canada. I think OWP usually have a 2 year limit.
