For people already in Canada, landing means going to a local Immigration Office, and picking up your Confirmation of Permanent Residence Document. It then takes 90 days to receive your PR card, but you can use the document you receive at the landing appointment as proof of PR. It is difficult to predict how mch longer you have to wait, but I would say around 5 months.

You will not `Land' until CIC has completed processing your application, meaning that you have provided everything that they require, including your police clearance.

I have been lurking this post ever since I had my DM letter on July 27th and now I finally have my interview for next Friday, August 28th! We are a late January 2014 applicant and we are so very excited to have this over and done with!

I am just wondering, is this a normal letter to receive? My husband (and sponsor) is very nervous about this interview. We have nothing to hide, he just has a lot of stress and anxiety issues and this process has been so long and taxing. I guess I am just looking for some insight as to how the day will go, as well. Just to prepare him (and myself) for it!

My other question is for the "Proof of current employment or termination of welfare benefits (for independent or sponsored persons only- including Live-in Caregivers)" This means I, the sponsored, just need proof of current employment?

Hello everyone!

I would like to ask anyone out here if you have experienced my case. Alright, let me give you some background history on my case.
I am full time cook, were in fact its a skilled one, unfortunately because of the moratorium issue I was not able to apply under express entry as
I have ended my work permit last Aug 2014. Anyway, May 2015 I got married here in Canada. And somebody advised us to submit our PR application together with OWP application together before my WP expired. We did it, I have make sure things were done, I also called CIC about this and they even advised me that I am still good to work that time and they explained me that I am under implied status. All I have to do is to show my file number to my employer. So, that makes me relieve and happy that time not knowing that they have returned my whole application OCT 2014 due to some missing documents. And after a week we resubmitted everything, we follow the CIC instructions correctly. I continued working not until I received a letter from the CIC Jan 2015 that they have refused processing the OWP because they found out that they did not received my PR application. And that started the whole confusion again. I immediately stopped working as I am also afraid that they will make me an issue of that, as it was advised to me the moment they refused it, the time I lost my implied status. To make it short, Ive waited again and went to a immigration consultant and tell my case. Again, we sent my OWP and after a 2 months they replied saying they cant give me consideration as I dont have a status and PR application. We have spent many from that and 2x our OWP were disapproved! And we came back again to my immigration consultant and this time we have decided to resend the whole application packagae as we have called the CIC many times they kept telling us that based from their system they havent received any PR application. So May 2015 we sent everything. Last July 2015, my husband received a mail from CIC saying they have received my PR application Oct 2014 and that started me to really felt so much confusion yet happy as they have my application on their system. Sad, because I was put on blame for not submitting. A week after my husband received a mail again saying they have received my PR application May 2015. Seriously, this is such so pain in the ass. We have 2 files in the system and they can't blame on that as we are taking actions based from their statements. Now, my question is I have not working for almost 7 months and that is too hard for us. I cant do anything even I wanna just go back to school or do something productive. I am caught in this situation. It seems I dont have a freedom, also I dont have a health care because I lost my status. Just imagine going to the hospital without that, Im 32 now and our plan of having a baby has been delayed because of this. My husband works just enough for our daily living. I wanna just come home as I am so stressed I cant do as they told me I will lost the whole application and my status! What a heck, this is something so unfair. I came here paying my tax and everything, I did not do anything to ruined my reputation in this country and this is what Ive got. I may sound bitter, frustrated because this is what I felt now. Now, I wanna consult a lawyer for this type of case but when I find out how much they are asking, I felt crying because the fact that we cant afford it. Now, im in vain, shadow of confuse and complicated situation really I am just hoping for a miracle. The last time I checked from Ecas our file is in process. But I am hoping that someone out there have experienced what I am going through, also I am taking my chances if possible to be included in the pilot program of OWP even without status and what is the best thing to do. What does your eCAS shows as receiving date, 2014 October or 2015 May?
Unfortunately there is not much that you can do. If your package in May 2014 was really incomplete, than there is no fault on CIC that they refused your OWP. You should have applied for restoration of status when you sent back everything in October. I'm sorry, but now you have to wait until you receive your AIP and you can apply for OWP after that.
I hope you sent a long explanation letter about your situation with your May 2015 package. You can't have two application at once, and the confuse this may cause might hurt your file. Have you tried to contact your MP? You should get straight your status with CIC, and it's the best to do through your MP.

They will request the police certificate after the sponsor gets approved. However, it is a good idea to send it in at the beginning. I did that, and I didn't have to wait the 10 months. We received AIP and DM on the same day. However, CIC is not consistent at all and a lot depends on the officer in charge of your case.

Don't worry, this is a standard letter. Make sure you bring all the required documents. Personally, I did not have to bring proof of employment, but this refers to the sponsor. Just ask your employer for a letter, and attach some pay stubs. And make sure you arrive early! Good luck and congratulations!

It should be three simple questions, but it also depends on the officer. I was expecting it to be in a room, sitting at a desk or something similar, but it turned out to be more like a bank/post office style, 20+ officers talking through a window. So I couldn't help but to overhear what other people were being asked. But it's more or less the same. Our officer kept asking if we have any children. She asked at least 5 times.
Do you have any children together? No
Do you have children with previous partners? No
Do you have any children anywhere in the world? No!!!
It was so annoyoing. And then she asked the same about other husbands and wives. I mean, is it even possible to have more than one wife??? Ughhh
But in the end it wasn't so bad. Depending on the office you might even get your SIN on site.
And then you just wait 90 says for your PR card and you are DONE!!!

It is strange that they asked you multiple questions regarding children. Usually the typical 3 questions are as followed:

1. Have you been convicted since you came to Canada?
2. Have you been denied entry to any country?
3. Do you have any children not listed in COPR? (This question should suffice regarding children. It doesn't matter how many children you have, if they are not listed in COPR, they can't get sponsored period)

Good for them, ...but it's upsetting that CIC has decided to start processing applications at random after some of us have been waiting 17 or 18 months for our applications to be touched.

It's already been established that evaluating a sponsor is a 15 minute process, so the fact that there's an "average processing time" for first stage instead of an exact time is due to the fact that they can't be bothered to actually process applications in the order they arrived.

Today the website is reporting that it's processing March 17. Those people have been waiting 17.2 months, but CIC has decided that they'd like to waste more of those March applicants' time by processing applications at random instead of theirs.

So while I certainly am glad for them, I'm partially jealous that I didn't similarly win the lottery 6 months ago, and partially furious that CIC is too stupid to do things in order.
Put this in perspective, there are people being processed 6 months early. As far as Inland is concerned you're locked in a jail cell till you get AIP, this is a big milestone.

Those people in September and August are being processed instead of people from March, and CIC is simply too dumb to do any better than that.

I certainly understand your frustration, and I enjoy reading your posts because you bring much needed humour here, but...how does reaching AIP suddenly release an Inland applicant from the `jail' that you mention? If you're referring to the `don't leave Canada' stigma that consumes most Inland applicants, you should know that AIP still doesn't guarantee re-entry into Canada.

As Ponga has mentioned, does CIC have a gun placed at the head of the inland applicant? No. The applicant is free to leave Canada at anytime. Noone at CIC is stopping her/him from leaving Canada. So the applicant is free to leave what you call "jail" . If an applicant can actually leave Canada without any restrictions none whatsoever, how is that called jail. Jail is a place whereby a person cannot leave at all despite every effort. So please tone down your exaggeration.
