The first stage approval (AIP, or Approval In Principle) is a combination of the sponsor's eligibility and the assessment of whether the applicant meets the requirements under the Family Class Spousal Sponsorship. The requirements for the latter are that you be in a genuine relationship with the sponsor, so...yes, that is where the relationship is assessed. However, if they need more `proof' they will likely ask you for it before denying your application.

Hi, could you clarify how you got a drivers licence? I have been here since October, but we now have done sponsorship and have ecas showing sponsor approved. I applied for msp - still waiting for response but phoned ICBC and they told me until I have the paperwork back from a visa extention they cannot issue me a drivers licence. Nothing was mentioned about a temporary one! Frustrating, as I am able to buy a car now.

Thanks for any help. I only have a visa that was stamped in my passport on entry (ok for 6 months UK) and am doing paperwork for visa extention, although think this will take months to come back approved.

you can go to Service Canada office and they will give him a temporary SIN.As for travel, i guess he cannot use it, he has to wait for his PR.

thank you for our reply,ok so if he is from a visa excempt country ,what does that mean we can travel since no visa is needed but will the open wprkermit show implied status so he can re enter,also now what is the next step ,is it the PR card so how long does that take since the medical police are done and open wpork permit is done whats next

If his from visa exempt country, the chance for being denied entry is really slim to none, but make it sure if you travel you will bring the receipt for the Sponsorship(to show at the border)

Some people waited few months for stage 2 if theyre done with medical, police checks and everything. You will get an email for your application that decision has been made and wait for the landing letter.

I have a quick question, we have all the forms filled but we are still waiting for police clearence ceritficates. We will need them from 3 countries and it might take us up to a month to get them. So will we be fine sending her application without police clearence certificates and send them later once we get them?

Yes you can send the application now and the Police certificate later.

This may be a good sign for us.

someone just posted in inland 2013 saying that he has received AIP approval this morning. I hope CIC have mercy on our application too...

Or otherwise im seriously thinking to start a claim sign up and send it to MP !!!!!!!
