thanks. i thought there was a thing that if you have inland application in process, you should stay in canada until you get your pr.
they say it as a precaution because if you are refused entry for any reason, your application will be rejected.

No. CIC gets that directly from RCMP. If there are identity issues (someone else with similar biodata) then they will ask for fingerprints (5-10% of cases).

I believe that is ok. I called CIC about that before I sent in my application. I was told to send the application with a letter explaining the reason why the police certificate is not included. That's what I did. Currently I'm still in the process trying to obtain it from the country I worked in. Just to make sure it gets to CIC within 90 days since it's issued once you get it.

People routinely submit applications with a PCC "to follow" and it's normally not an issue. Do NOT submit the PCC until you have a file number, however. It's far too easy for things to get lost inside CIC...

Hello, I have a question about requesting the FBI background check. Can I only request it while I remain in the US or can I mail FBI the request from Canada? Would they be able to send it back to me to my Canadian address?

You can request it from anywhere. They will mail it back to any address you want, either for free (postal) or via a pre-paid FedEx label (and they only accept FedEx).

I submitted mine and received it back while in Canada (and I used FedEx, as eastern US to Western Canada mail can take up to 3 weeks and I'm naturally impatient).

Guys,

I am now bit concerned about my wife's visa extension. We filed her application on April 6th, online. so far, nothing from CIC. It was a phone call we made to CIC last month, we were told that they will need the medical report from my wife, again this is from us calling them, not from any email, or notification from them. So we send in the medical report to CIC. but I just realized, the medical report was intented for her PR application, and I just automatically assumed that, PR and visa extension are in the same office, since it is all eletronic, they should have this report throughout all her files.

So now, it has been three month and still no nothing from CIC on her visa application, does it mean that we need to ask the clinic to send the report to the CIC Visa extension office? The strangest thing is, online status showing everything under "not required at the moment". We are confused and angry about the whole process. Why would they require our medical report if we are applying for PR?!

call cic agian and if they cant help, then go see your MP. My MP helped me a lot when my visa was rejected recently! after talking to MP and waiting for a month, cic looked at my application again and asked for my passport! i havent received my passport yet so i dont know how long my visa will be valid for but anyways it's better than nothing. good luck!

if you sent your application in May, i think it's still too soon to here from cic. the first time you hear from cic is when you receive AOR which currently takes about 120 days (or 4 months). the first stage approval currently takes over 11 months (not 6-8 months) and for stage 2 it varies from case to case.
If all documents and clearances are given even then it would take 11 months? I am bit worried as presently, I am waiting for Work permit to come. Would It be possible to get Temporary work permit after we have filed Inland application. Pls suggest

We sent in the application in mid-May, and haven't heard anything. Just have to be patient and wait...
