Wow. I'm speechless. It finally happened. Hubby just got DM. Such a long, frustrating journey and it's almost over. Right now I'm just in shock. Waiting for the elation to set in! We are July 26, 2013 applicants.

Congrats!! So happy to see people getting good news. :)

I successfully landed at the Vancouver office today. The landing process was a lot more informal than I anticipated. Our appointment started right on time. The agent that processed my documents was very friendly. We got called up to a booth (not a private room) and were asked to present passport, work permit, payment receipt, etc.. My spouse was not even asked to show ID to prove that we live at the same address.

I was asked the standard questions:
1) Have you committed a crime? I was worried about my fine for graffiti as a 15 year old which was already disclosed to the CIC during application process but the agent said there is nothing to worry about and put NO. I never had to go to court for the fine.
2) Do you have any dependents?
3) Have you ever been deported from Canada.
4) When did you enter Canada?

The agent also verified my address and asked me to verify all of the information on the PR form then initial. I was told that I could not apply for the new SIN card until the PR card arrives in approximately 6 weeks.

Overall, it was a pleasant process which took about 45 minutes.

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats. But can't apply for no SIN card until 6 you receive PR card means you will not be able to work in the first 6 weeks?

Hi Civic,

Some landing agents say that you need to wait - but in fact you can go to Service Canada with your COPR and they will give you a SIN.

For those of us who landed at Etobicoke recently, they actually had a booth for SIN applications - you just waited another few minutes, got called up, and they print your SIN right away.

(SIN cards are no longer produced, simply a number on a piece of paper)

Hope this helps!

that's actually wrong. most Service Canada places will issue you a permanent SIN on your COPR document. In rare cases the COPR doesn't show up in their system right away that you can have problems. But you can definitely get your SIN using your COPR document. I and several others on the forum here got it.

Actually all you need is your COPR check the Service Canada website.

They changed the rules a while back.

You cant check your medical exam till you get your aip or stage 1 approval. But to answer your question, go to cic website and click check app status and just follow direction

I just got my passport back from CBSA without any issues (yay) :)

The paranoia is diminishing now, but I must say I was feeling nervous even when I was picking up my passport.

Now to renew my old passport and make travel plans :D
Congratulations linxord ! Please let us know when you receive your pR card

Please tell us that you did NOT take the job that you were asking about back in August 2014:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/inland-applications-2013-t129064.0.html;msg3424102#msg3424102

If you did...and were working after your PGWP expired in September...the interview might not be a landing interview.

Hopefully, you didn't...and it is! ;)
