But security and background checks are part of step 2...AFTER AIP!

Download the document ip08 from the CIC website and look at the flowchart (somewhere near page 43, I believe). It clearly shows that these checks are AFTER AIP.

Well maybe they figure they'll get a little more than just AIP done since we've been waiting for so long on this. That'd be great. But I can guarantee you we've never received any indication that we've gotten AIP.

I have a question guys, can everyone who sees this and had been request to share more documents before receiving AIP tell us what exactly they requesting, and if this was not included and if you're married or common law!? It seems a lot of people are being asked to submit more prove, I just want to see if there's a pattern here, or maybe is the same agent asking or they buying time...

I already mentioned my situation earlier, but to say it again, I am Aug 16th, 2013 applicant and I got the sponsor approval on Nov 10th.
My wife got an email on the same day requesting for marriage certificate and additional documents to prove our relationship.
We didn't include the marriage certificate in the application but we included marriage license and many documents to prove our marriage and relationship is genuine.

We sent the marriage certificate and additional evidence 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back.
The email from CPC said "send these documents by 2015/02/09".
I saw a post by someone else who went through the same situation earlier this year saying that he got the AIP and OWP a week after sending the additional documents.
However, after not hearing anything in 2 weeks, I am starting to think that they might not get back to us until then, which will be 22 months for stage 1. :-[ :-[ :-[

As I understand it, when a request for extra information is made, they set a "Bring Forward" date on your file, representing the request expiry date. One of two things could happen...
1) Your information response pulls your file out of storage and puts it back in the active pile, or
2) Your information is added to your file in storage, which isn't accessed until the BF date.
Your GCMS notes might tell you...

Thanks! So, is the date I mentioned (2015/02/09) would be the bring forward date?
I've been ignoring about this GCMS note, but maybe it's time for me to get one. Can anyone send me the link where I can ask for this?

Invoke the Privacy Act... It's free, compared to $5 under ATI.

Zardoz, I'm curious, are the notes immediately accessible, or does it take time to process?

@ Greg answer of your question is MARRIED.

I called the agent yesterday to see what's up for our file. She looked it and said that our waiting time for stage 2 is 1 month longer than 8 months (we wait for 9 months already but no hear anything from CIC). She asked me to wait for few minutes and she sent a letter to the center. Do you think it is a good sign when an agent sends the email to the center to let them know that our waiting is longer than 8 months for the stage 2?

30 days for electronic notes from GCMS. More if you request the scans of the physical file, which I have just done. Want to see why they screwed up my first COPR.

Thank you. I invoked the Privacy Act.
Let's see what I get...

I own my own home so I didn't submitt anything like that. We sent 2 or 3 documents addressed to my partner at our home to comfirm we are living together. We got AIP. Probably depends on who is looking at your file?
