We sent our OWP along with our PR.

I wonder if we should just apply for an OWP online then?? And not wait for them to process the one sent with our Application?

Thoughts anyone? Could it hurt anything to send in a 2nd one online now??? Which form did you use online? It's been so long since we sent ours in, I can't remember any more...

But if you apply online that means you have to pay again for OWP right, even though you
sent one with the app. I wonder if they would remburse you for that.

I doubt it.

But honestly, I really wouldn't care if it helped my hubby get his OWP in a month! :)

Thats true. If you can get it sooner than God knows CIC would mail it when, then thats better...

The OWP fee is $155, correct?

I'm glad you asked, I meant to put that in my last message - we had to do a hard copy and snail mail it. It would not let us apply online. We phoned the call centre and they sent us the link to the correct form because that - like everything else with this process - was confusing. Getting the work permit was the fastest, easiest and least confusing part of this whole ordeal! There are also a couple of limitations on the permit. He can't go to school or work in the sex trade. Haha!

All I can give is my opinion but I can't see why it would hurt to send another application. But, who knows?
Which did you mail it to? I would assume the Unit 555?

So someone on the FB Group just told me that the Sponsor got approval email Oct.16th, Applicant got the AIP email Nov.6th, and OWP was rec'd on Wednesday the 12th.

I'm just wondering if I should apply right away for OWP again or hold out a bit longer.....

I wonder why it is they are now doing Stage 1 in 2 different steps like this. The lady did tell me this is the new process they are doing...

Hi! I might have some good news for you. We rec'd the first part of AIP on July 17 (sponsor approval) and we crossed our fingers and hubby applied for a work permit a day or two later. He received it a little over a month later - it is dated August 19 and is valid for two years. So, if you've rec'd the first part (I think I saw that you did?), he can apply for a work permit. At least, it worked for us.

He still has had no luck getting an Alberta driver's license or healthcare though. :-[

Can't he get health care by virtue of having an OWP? I mean, he has a SIN now, right? Some people have said they got Alberta healthcare with just a visitor's visa and a marriage certificate!

Thats why you should have faith. Maybe there is some time gap between sponsor approval and AIP now. Good luck

You can try and send the original receipt.

HELLO GUYS, frenchwapiti did you receive anything today? Thanks

hello greg10,
still nothing, I think I have to be patient and wait until next week. should we get any news I 'll keep you all informed.

Actually my hubby got court ordered visitation before he left. In addition to that he appealed to the mothers sisters explaining that it was not his intent to take the child, its a step he is taking to ensure that should his daughter want to attend university here years from now the option would be available. Then he offered to forfeit his visitation rights by not asking to have her send his daughter here for the court ordered visits for the next 6 years. The mother changed her mind and sent her here for this past
summer we hope she sends her again next summer so we can have the medicals done here. I will post progress...but your case will be resolved well before then. I am 2014 applicant

Yes, it is hard to believe a person can decline such as great opportunity for their own kids. Can you let me know how things ends with your case?

Thanks for your reply marcyb25.

I thought people in Alberta didnt need to wait for AIP to qualify for health care
