I never heard back from my MP regarding the email I sent in May. I am writing again today, pretty much because I am going crazy. Here's what I sent this time.

To MP Hawn,

I sent the below email to your office on May 21st and did not get a response. I am writing again today as I am increasingly frustrated with the direction that Minister Alexander has taken with the Inland Spousal Sponsorship program. We have now been waiting for first stage approval for 11 months. The government's response to these delays (blaming the previous government: http://www.thestar.com/news/immigration/2014/06/29/foreign_spouses_trapped_in_canada_due_to_sponsorship_backlog.html) has been completely unsatisfactory as the wait times have almost doubled within the past year. The transfer of inland applications to CPC-Mississauga from CPC-Vegreville has done nothing but cause an extreme slow down of application.

Many people believe that this is a deliberate move on behalf of Minister Alexander to discourage people from using the inland application stream. The ministry now seems to be presenting that they have consistently discouraged inland spousal sponsorship as opposed to outland spousal sponsorship. However, if you go to apply on the website, it indicates that if you are in Canada, you should apply inland, not outland. In fact, it is very difficult to find any indication of which route is preferred except as a response to legitimate commentary on the lack of progress of inland applications.

I am not entirely sure what you are able to do about this process, but my understanding is that you are the most appropriate avenue to effect change in this area. I would also like to apologise if the tone of this email is terse; it is not intentional or directed towards you or your staff, but more so is an expression of my daily frustration with CIC and my disappointment in having this occur in a country which prides itself in its diversity and is built on immigration.

Thank you for your consideration.

In 12 days we will have waited exactly 1 year since the day we applied on July 29th. :(
I sure hope ppl on the forum start hearing so I can be assured they are getting through this continued backlog of apps that will only get larger at this pace.....

Looking at the spreadsheet you received DM in January. What's your landing office? The most anyone on the spreadsheet who has landed has had to wait has been 100 days, and you've been almost double that. Are you in the regular stream or were you red flagged? I'm also confused as to how you received DM in Jan, but you're saying your fingerprints were received in March? Have you ordered your notes?

hi..my landing office is mississauga...in jan., they requested my fbi finer prints....it takes about 6/8 weeks to et them done...they received them in march...i called in april and was told that my canadian background check was being processed...i got my SIN/OWP...that is all i have heard from them...i just ordered my notes...nothing sticks out...i don't think i have been red flagged

Hi, i just wanna share my time line and some comment about inland sponsorship.

When we sent our app in Dec 2012 we were told inland was faster (6 months all in!) which used to be true but it is not anymore. So if you can apply out land. The fast processing for family unity is only for out land app.

We were also told I had to wait first stage approval to get study permit FALSE! just send your app to the states (you will have to cross the boarder to get you visa though and you need to have an active status to do so) so just try to extend whatever permit you have.

AOR: feb 3 2013
First stage app: Nov 18 2013
DM: Jun 27 2014
Landing: July 15 2014

i read some people get a new SIN number right away... not my case. I am from Peru and apparently since i need a visa to be in Canada, I have to wait for the PR card to be able to get a new SIN number.

the interview was pretty quick, i landed in Edmonton. Just be early, make sure you have the right kind of picture, receipt and yout spouse. the officer only asked for things already shared in the forum: if I had not declared children, if i had not committed a crime, and if i had been not aloud to enter to Canada. my spouse was requested ID (drives license) and that was it.

probably someone already shared this info... the officer told everybody we have to wait 4 years to apply for citizenship.

I hope the best for everyone. It is nice to be able to read your posts and know what to expect during this process :D

I sent an e-mail to my MP back in May and never heard anything back either...

Hubby got an email asking for proof of our relationship. I'm not sure what to send. Everything is in my name and we sent all our pics and letters from friends and family.

Congratulations!!

How about joint account statement or rental agreement...?

Guys, I'm freaking out now. The deadline for me to send the additional documents requested is July 23, 2014. If documents are not received by that date, they may drop the application.

I was told to get a renewed passport. I've been trying so much and bouncing between 3 Govt offices to do so. the Passport is with CBSA who refuse to release it until CIC is done with their process. CIC wants a renewed passport. My Consulate is giving me problems and wants the old passport to renew it.

I'm going to have to write a letter to CIC explaining this and send all correspondance with Consulate and CBSA in to them.

Hopefully everything works out. Has someone ever done such a thing here? or requested extension?

I'm also in touch with the consulate and have gone all the way up and everywhere to try getting my passport. I'm hopeful something will come of it shortly but I won't be able to make it in time for the deadline on the request.

Congrats!!! You could also send mailing letters and documents from both of you showing the same address.
