Guys, I'm freaking out now. The deadline for me to send the additional documents requested is July 23, 2014. If documents are not received by that date, they may drop the application.

I was told to get a renewed passport. I've been trying so much and bouncing between 3 Govt offices to do so. the Passport is with CBSA who refuse to release it until CIC is done with their process. CIC wants a renewed passport. My Consulate is giving me problems and wants the old passport to renew it.

I'm going to have to write a letter to CIC explaining this and send all correspondance with Consulate and CBSA in to them.

Hopefully everything works out. Has someone ever done such a thing here? or requested extension?

I'm also in touch with the consulate and have gone all the way up and everywhere to try getting my passport. I'm hopeful something will come of it shortly but I won't be able to make it in time for the deadline on the request.
any input for me? I don't want to hijack attention but I'm freaking out a bit.is it is 17th today. Deadline is 23rd. I will express post my statement tomorrow.

I think I mentioned this before but talking to a lawyer might be a good idea. Have you tried that?

Linden, I would like to talk to a lawyer and thank you for the advice. But last time I talked to a lawyer and involved him in another case I got into a debt and he also messed everything up. I'm not saying anything against lawyers, its just that we are not in a position to get a lawyer at this point financially.

I was hoping to get through by reading, working it out myself and with the help of all the fellow applicants here.

So, hubby talked to an agent today to get the link to apply for OWP. The agent told him he thinks he will be refused because he was asked to send additional proof of our relationship. This isn't correct, is it? I was approved as sponsor and my understanding is that's all that is needed for him to apply. That is first stage approval, right?

Congrats ruppcs!!! :)

I just got my.....GCMS notes! Might not be AIP, but anything is exciting at this point... ::)

I was almost hyperventilating at work, until I looked at them.....27 pages of nothing pretty much. My husbands medical says not started, though looks like it was extended til September (or it would have already expired in June). My status as sponsor, Not Started. My husbands criminality says In Process.

There were NO notes about us, and what they think of our relationship.

The only thing was an email from CPC Etobicoke and CPC-M, because we sent in a Request for Criminal Rehabilitation For Information Only, since we are unsure if the record he has in the US makes him ineligible. (He crossed from Canada to US in 2005). There is no corresponding section in the criminal code in Canada, and the call center advised us to proceed that way. So in March Etobicoke sent an email to CPC-M asking if they are going to keep our Application and process it, or if they will be sending it to Etobicoke for processing.....

No response on file since March about that....

*sigh* stressss....nervous........now I got a crazy headache at work!!!
Argh! This whole process is so frustrating. I've been through so many ups and downs as well. Try to stay positive. It's all we can do!

if you are approved as a sponsor, you can apply for OWP. Its as simple as that. The Call center agents some times don't know what they are talking about. if they have any concerns about the OWP application they will let you know. I'd say go ahead and apply.

Hi Linxord, back year 2011 I was applying work (this was the second time of coming to Canada for work) and when everything was almost done they were asking me a new passport and they were giving me a deadline for submission but because I know I won't be able to make it before the deadline so I wrote a letter to CIC with solid explanation that I won't be able to make it so they were giving me additional extention to get it done. And I also i think u can apply for a passport renewal to your Consulate as long as you have documents to prove to them that you have an ongoing application.

What did the email from CIC say? Does it say you can apply for an OWP. Sounds like you only got sponsorship approval but not the AIP email. Someone else mentioned they got the sponsorship but AIP email right away.

In any case send the additional proof to CIC and I'm sure it'll clear everything out. At least now you know that they are working on your file.

No. AIP is approval of sponsor + the assessment of the relationship that the applicant has with the sponsor.

It looks like CIC has issued you a pseudo AIP, that is only the approval of the sponsor...which is what SA is for an Outland applicant.
IF that is the case, the phone agent is correct...because this would not be a true AIP, as we knew it...before they changed everything!

Good luck!

I think you need the AIP addressed to the Applicant which mentions the 'Applicant being eligible for PR processing'. I don't think the sponsors AIP cuts it. Looks like they need a few relationship proofs to issue you that AIP. But i could be wrong, wait for someone more knowledeable to confirm this.

Take a look on the flowchart from page 44 of CIC's operating manual

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip08-eng.pdf

sponsorship approval goes to sponsor while AIP goes to applicant. If they are asking for relationship proof, according to CIC's document, it seems AIP has not yet been completed.

Don't worry about the notes. When I got my GCMS notes a few weeks before my AIP+DM, most of the stuff said 'Not started' or 'In process'. I was worried about the background checks because I knew criminality was done and that the medical is always processed after stage 1 as I was hoping for all of those items to be completed so I could get AIP+DM at the same time..

So even though a few of the items on my notes said 'Not started' I still got AIP+DM within few weeks of that. So looks like they have access to more (Or quick processing of) information about the applicant than what's mentioned on the notes.

THIS IS AIP. THERE'S ONLY 2 STAGES, NOT THREE. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM AIP? UNLIKE THE OUTLAND APPS, INLAND APPS GIVE SPONSORSHIP APPROVAL AND ALSO ASSES YOUR RELATIONSHIP, IF THEY HAVE ANY DOUBTS THEY DONT ISSUE SPONSORSHIP APPROVAL (AIP)
Well looks like you can get sponsor approval before AIP comes in from CPC-M.

I think the only thing that changed is that CPC-V didn't usually send the email (sponsorship approval) to the sponsor until AIP was approved. I think in the OP's case CPC-M just wants too see a couple more additional documents before granting AIP.
