Hello friends, just got a quick question.
Anyone is from Vancouver got DM in January and haven't got a landing letter yet? It seems few people from Vancouver already got a landing date. Will cic give you some times to prepare the interview? Cause my husband works out town and he needs couple weeks notice.

Became a PR today I will post more tomm. about my whole experience.
Just a heads up for those who are landing at Vancouver, make sure to apply/have a temp. SIN before landing coz the officer said I won't be able to apply for my permanent SIN until I have PR card( I am going to Service Canada tomm. to try my luck). Once you land your work permit will become void so, apply before if you haven't already.

Congrats Guri! however this does make me question about SIN and taxes......if your work permit becomes void after you get PR, does that mean your temporary SIN number is voided also, and if this is the case would it not be illegal to be working from that time till you got permanent SIN? Also what would we do when it comes to taxes? submit forms for both temp SIN and Permanent ones i assume but just wondering if anyone has any insight?

You permanent SIN is tied to your temporary SIN. Is effectively like getting a renewed credit card, all the old information is still tied to the account but the numbers are new When you file taxes you only file using your permanent one.

Congrats Guri! It must feel like weight has been lifted off of your shoulders! I would like to thank you for continuing to keep the spreadsheet up to date, it is much appreciated.

Also, hubby has a temporary SIN that expired when his old work permit expired, when we received AIP/OWP, we just waited to see if we would get DM within a month (which we did) before renewing the temporary SIN he already had. If you already had a temporary SIN that had expired, would this still be okay? Or does my husband have to renew his temporary SIN before it's made into a permanent one at the landing appointment?

Its funny how every office works differently. At etobicoke we had someone from service Canada issuing Permanent SIN numbers.. with out temp sin.. they had a person right there..

I Rita not sure what you mean by cut or uncut ... We got our pics taken at blacks .. Just told them it was pr card... I know they r pricy but at least they know what they r doing

I mean pictures that still have that white background around them, and were not cut by black's.
I know that some landing offices only require uncut photos
I am happy you are done with it ;D

yes we had had the white background.. and we just gave that to the officer and she just pasted that on the form.. I guess it was uncut..
