Why are some of you getting AOR so late? I understand getting AOR is always the first stage and takes around 30-40 days...?

JamesDavid,

Have you received AOR yet? I see you and I are close in timelines. I got mine on Feb 4th.

i join into the wave of congratulations, what a wonderful news!!!! yes Champagne is necessary now. You must feel so excited, happy, relieved. I wish the very best for the future!!!
WELCOME TO CANADA!!!!!

JHwife , sorry to hear what's going on; as, others have mentioned there have been few people here who were given removal orders but weren't deported and went on to get DM. Your case is already strong since you have AIP. Don't worry, this time will soon pass.

Hi Harmin, nothing yet. I am hoping to get the letter this month ,too much to ask but you never know :)

Congrats to mocha for AIP :) One step closer to PR.

JHwife,

do not desperate! I think you have a solid and strong file, it must just be a bad communication issue. Keep the faith in your application and do not give in. this is a tough moment for your couple, but do not forget: when love reigns, the impossible may be attained!!!
I am sure you will get your file approved in the end and have nothing to worry about.
Keep smiling! I cross my fingers for you!!!

I think I could hold the Guinness World Record for 'Most Page Refreshes in a Minute (or Hour...or Day)'!

Thank you. Its the scariest time of our lives, the unknown is the hardest part. We just want to live happy, normal, stress-free. I pray that this process comes to an end soon and we can start to enjoy life again.

Hi guys, I have a question that's not quite related to PR applications, but I couldn't find a good topic on it in the tax forum...

How do you guys show the sponsored spouse on your tax returns? Do you have a temporary tax number?

My spouse moved here at the end of 2012 and we didn't have a temporary number for filing so we used the '000 000 000' SIN; this year I think we'll have a SIN to use since the OWP will come through in time...

Basically it's all needlessly complicated but I'd like to know how you all handle it..

I'm not sure that I can 100% answer your question, but I will give it a shot. Don't be afraid to make new topics if you don't see anything that's already posted that will help you. We have a lot of really great users here, a lot of people who have gone through similar experiences. :) Also, if you post your own separate thread, a lot of the senior members will be able to answer you and it won't get buried here where we might not see it for a while. :)

We are in the process of getting a new SIN for my hubby as well as he did have one through previous work permits but it expired when his work permit did halfway through our process. Now that he has an OWP, we are filing for a new one. I believe that when you file, CRA asks if you are married. In our case, if we don't get the new SIN in time for hubby, we are planning to put the old number down, even though it's technically expired, I do believe that it is still connected to that person.

Like I said, I'm not 100% sure, but when we applied for a car lease, my hubby gave his expired SIN number and even though they didn't accept it for the purpose of leasing, his information was still available to CRA.

I hope others are able to sound off on this. I'll keep an eye on your question and bump it if it gets lost in the shuffle again.

:)

Hi guys
A new column "N" has been added to check how many days it takes to get a landing date after DM for different offices. Should we also have a column for total no. of days it took from App. received to landing?

JHWife, Im very sorry to hear about this predicament and all the stress + mental turmoil you and your hubby's been going through these two days..
To be honest, there's only so much everyone can tell/advise/console you..
I think you and hubby should relax for now, have a good dinner tonight and go have fun this weekend!
The interview's this coming Monday but there's nothing you can do that will change anything until the interview..
I think you + hubby have shed enough tears and taken a lot of pressure due to this matter so its time for both of you to recharge and rest well so you can be on your best form to fight the war on Monday..
All of us are facing a long treacherous journey ahead just to be with our love ones but hey, at least we get to hold their hands and be with them to face everything together..
Like you said, this immigration process had made you guys stronger..
With the love and bond so strong, you guys can prevail and I am sure everything will turn out fine in the end!
Stay strong and be positive!! Most importantly, stop thinking and worry unduly..
Save your energy and positive vibes to show CBSA you guys are real and make them back off lol
Anyways, I know its easier said to be done but we should be thankful we have our partners with us and get to be with them whenever we want..
So everyone, we should stop stressing ourselves out(for now) and start planning what we're gonna do for our partners for Valentine's Day next friday!
Just remember, tough times dont last! With love, everything can prevail.. ;D
