Is it weird that my medical expired in early January and CIC didn't tell me I need to get them re-done?

Mine expired in October 2013, they seem to ask the medical clinic for an extension.

I'm sure the new tenants at your old place have it! It's too bad your old landlord couldn't give you their email address, so you could find out before the weekend. It seems like no one (expect this 'forum family') understands how long a couple of days feels!

You are so right! We had to text him 3 or 4 times to get a response, he's always been a little lazy I assume lol. We can go pick up the mail this weekend, but I honestly think it's just bills. I went to Canada post and the lady claims that everything that is in my name, which has been paid to get forwarded will end up at our new address, I hope she's right

And very true, not even my own immediate family, nor his understands it. We tried different ways of explaining well I can't work because, I can't get health care because and what not haha, so having you guys to talk to on this forum is beyond amazing!

I would like to ask regarding my wife's Alberta Health Care card that will expire this year, I think October 2014. When can she apply for renewal? We submitted our application plus her OWP last Dec. 30, 2013 and they received it January 3, 2014. Her work permit is valid until October 2014. She's currently on EI since August 2013 and about to give birth to our first child anytime soon.

Please advice. Thank you

I may be wrong. From what I read, the Alberta health care will only cover visitor of spouse for first time. After it expires, you may have to wait AIP to get back on Alberta health care.

Please correct me if I am wrong, fellow forum members.

When my wife's health care card expired because of her visa is also expired, we applied for temporary extension (3 months) and got approved right away. Try call 7804221400 (Edmonton)

hello! She can only extend once... that's the 3 months.. She needs a valid work permit after the 3 month period or pray for AIP and OWP soon...or else she won't be covered.

Yes, just as charmainefrances said.

Only once and for 3 months. The lady who helped me told me that after that 3 months.. keep all the medical receipts until she gets an OWP or any status (not implied status) and we can reimburse them.

I told them she applied for PR inside Canada, nothing else.
