Hi everyone!

I'm pretty sure this question was asked at least 10 times in this thread, but there's no way I can look through all 300+ pages for the answer. So if anyone could provide some insight on my question that'd be great!

I'm a Canadian PR and now in the process of applying for Canadian Citizenship.

I also got married this year in Canada, and my wife stayed here with me (she arrived here on a tourist visa in June 2013). In September 2013 we applied for her and her son sponsored PR (he's here with us as well). In October we received notification that CIC had started processing of the application.

I know that my wife is not allowed to leave Canada until she gets her PR.
Now my question is regarding myself - am I allowed to leave Canada while we're waiting for her status? If it matters, I'm talking about leaving for 1-2 weeks for business trips to US mostly.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

You have no restriction of leaving the country, you can leave you are the sponer. its jsut the person being sponser ..its advised not to travel just in case they are not allowed to re-enter canada then the the sponsorhsip will be cancelled and they have to restart from beginning

Thank you! Well it does make sense and it's how I thought it should be.
But at the same time, I just found another thread (can't post links, it's canadavisa domain + /canada-immigration-discussion-board/can-my-sponsor-leave-canada-during-my-pr-application-t153811.0.html) with the same question as mine and there're 2 answers in it - both contradictory to yours. Not saying you're wrong (I actually think you're right), but is there anywhere official information about it? Or is it just that everyone's treating the lack of information on the question differently?:)

Actually I THINK sponsors who are PR's of Canada are not allowed to leave the country until the process is over, whereas citizens can. Since you were a PR when you sent out the application and you currently still are I THINK you have to stay inside Canada. I would do some more diggin or call CIC.

You are allowed to leave just its just for 2 weeks, youare not allowed to live apart or work in a diffrent country and sponser her...but if you are travelling for work its not a issue..

A PR is not allowed to sponser if they are living outside of Canada, but a citizen is allowed to sponsor from anywhere in the world.

if i am wrong i am sorry.
